Default 1999 or 2000 TA?

I REALLY hate to introduce myself with a question...but I just wanted to throw this out there and see what direction to go in and you can't go wrong in here! I found a 1999 TA with 121K miles, A4, meticulously maintained, red w/black interior for $3K. It's someone I work with and he's cutting me a killer deal. I also found a 2000 WS-6 with 43K miles, 6 speed black on black for $14Kobo. That is one mean looking TA! I really wanted a black WS-6 and standard but at the $3K price the 1999 is hard to pass up. I'm leaning towards the 1999 and getting a raptor or ws6 hood and have more $$ to mod. Opinions? And thanks in advance...!

I would never buy a car with 121 K on it. I payed 12.7 for my 98 ws6 m6 with 22,000 orginal miles if that helps.

You got a great deal! ...I hear you on the mileage it does worry me but the damn car runs so strong and wasn't beat on at all. Great input, thanks. Time to do some serious thinking, that ws6 won't be there long.

If you know the car was well cared for I'd take the deal no question, LS1s run well past that if taken care of properly.

if its in the shape your saying it is in.... the 3k one hands down not a question about it.. if not, hold out and find something else.. i wouldnt spend 14k on an fbody... for a few k more you could have a cobra or zo6 if you could find a good deal..

The car only has 2 issues, a cracked upper dash pad ($200) and the paint on the hood is showing signs of clearcoat fade which I want to replace anyway. Thats it...mechanically has always been on time with scheduled maintenance.

It is in excellent shape, I know the owner real well and he's meticulous abouthis vehicles. He has it at the garage right now making 100% sure everything is good to go. I recently sold my 06' GTO for 24K (got lucky) and have missed that damn car ever since. But I wasnt missing the payment. With this car at least I can pay cash and be done with it.

Depends on your goals, want something that will need time/money/work or something you can pay for and the only money you spend on it will be for maintenance and nice upgrades? I'd go for the 2000, but for about $4k less.

I agree with 'Trust', whoes name is annoying because of the single quotes -- if they come down to $10 then go with the 2000. Otherwise, for $3,000 I would certainly go with the '99. However, I won't own an automatic, so I wouldn't consider the '99 even at that price. Also, black on black WS6 is the meanest looking F-Body by far.

Honestly, it comes down to "how much do you have to spend."

If you can do the 14k, then get the '99 for 3k and drop a LS7, 9" and 6-speed in it.
Between the two, its clear that the 99 for 3k is the more cost efficient choice.

But, my advice is to keep looking around and see if you can find a lower mileage ls1 for half the price off the '00.

Oh, and no LS1, under $30,000, has gone without its share of burnouts and/or tripe-digit speedo readings, just sayin'

I'd take the one for $3k any day. my car has 100k miles on it and i've done a total of about $100 worth of repairs. mileage doesn't scare me as long as it's been cared for.

When I read this the first time, I read it like you were planning on using jedi mind tricks or something on the seller hahaha.

Anywho, OP definitely help Lemons out if you aren't jumping on the deal!

Sure will. I'm going to try a low offer on the 2000, if I fail at low balling then I'll get the 1999 and end thread! If I do score the 2000 then I'll see if he's willing to do the same $3K deal for anyone else. They just picked up a 2008 G-8 GT so he's willing to sell it for a good deal.

Thanks to all that have given input, much appreciated.

I agree. My car has a lot less miles than you but I have owned it for 4 years and spent less than than 40 bucks in repairs (Just broke two wheel studs by cranking down on the them to hard when trying to put on some skinnies) in repairs and I take it to the track a couple of times a month. Even though it is cammed, stalled and sprayed it is by far the most relaible car I have ever owned.
