child seat top tether anchor install??? gen 4 camaro or firebird
Anyone do the install for the top anchor? I just bought a 95 firebird and I know I can pick up the anchor from a dealer, but I'm not sure how/where to install it. Pics are worth a lot!
Thanks!

It's a drawing from the 2000 Firebird Owner's Manual, but it's a start...

After you download the 2000 Owner's Manual, Click on "Section 1", and scroll down to page 1-39.

well, i got the free top anchor from the dealer, and the instructions say that there is a threaded mounting plate to mount the thing to... but there is no such thing in this 95 'bird! Anyone else with a 95.... can you check under the carpet over the axle, and tell me if yours has this mount?

well... it turns out that there is another kit for cars not specifically built for sale in Canada.
the dealer originally gave me a kit for the Canada cars, which are supposed to have a weldment that has threaded holes... obviously this didn't work for me.
instead, i found out about the U.S. version. it mounts to the floor of the rear-most trunk area. anyone with a drill can do this.
the kit(s) come free... and the dealer would have installed free as well, but i wasn't going to bother with that... especially since its winter and i pulled insurance and stored it. the dealer does get paid from GM, they just submit as a warranty type claim.

Yeah, you don't want to be drilling into the floor above your gas tank. There is a little space between the tank and floor, but that's just an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully your car seat tethers are long enough to reach the anchors mounted so far away from the back seat.

Child seat top tether attachment kit
I know this thread is old, but... I called a dealership and they want to charge me $72 for the child seat top tether attachment kit??!! i read here it's FREE? The parts guy told me it's a bulletin, so unless I have a recall notice I have to pay. If so, can I get a kit at an auto parts store, or try to get one out of a 2000 or later F-body? Any help is appreciated.
