2001 Trans Am build sheet
Where in the car is the build sheet located? I bought a 2001 Trans Am today with a Ram Air hood and the car is totally stock as far as I can tell. The engine bay looks like it just came off the assembly line. Not a scratch or ding anywhere on the car and the interior is absolutely mint. I wanted to look at the build sheet to find out the options installed. Any help is appreciated, thanks...

You can start with the RPO codes on the drivers door.
Check out this link for more info: http://www.phs-online.com/services.htm
I had a reproduction window sticker made for mine. I think I started through PHS link above.

It appears the RPO codes on the drivers door have been removed or they are located somewhere else in the car and I have searched with no luck. Not sure why someone would remove the sticker unless they were trying to sell it as a WS6. The carfax report is clean with no problems, so I am not too worried about it. I am pretty sure it is not a WS6, but a Trans Am with a Ram Air hood. I was trying to find out if it had a2:73 or 3:23 rear. I guess I will try that link phs-online it looks like they can send me the info I need with the VIN number......thanks for the help!

I tried running the VIN on one of those decoder websites, and that little guy didn't verify it she was a WS6 or not (buzzkill). Now I've talked to some people about the minor differences between the two, and this is what I've found. Again just by word of mouth.
1) WS6 has power steering cooler in the upper radiator hose and the T/A doesn't.
2) Panhard arm is a little thicker on WS6s (dont know by how much)
3) WS6 has slightly better shocks (supposedly bilstein?)
4) The functional Ram Air hood <---Bitchen!
5) supposedly the gap between the core mount and airbox is slightly taller as well.
I'm just trying make sure that I don't improperly badge or run a car without the deserved badging. If ya'll know some of these differences are not actual differences or a little more detail let me know. Any input would be righteous.

PHS doesn't do build sheets for newer Pontiacs.

I ordered my build sheet through Allied Vaughn, sent a copy of that to PHS and got my reproduction window sticker.

The PS cooler became optional on non-WS6 cars in later years, I think '98-'99 were the only years that ONLY the WS6s got the coolers.
No difference in the panhard arm.
Midway through the '00 production, the WS6 suspension was "de-contented" compared to the standard T/A suspension. I believe the only difference was the sway bars and 17" rims after mid '00. Shocks and springs were the same.

The compnine website is gone.
Write down your VIN. Go to ANY GM parts counter. Give it to the parts guy and ask for a RPO printout. This usually takes up to two minutes to do. It's usually free of charge.
This RPO printout will be for your car. It will list everything installed on the car, all options, all items, all trim codes.
If your car is a WS6, it'll be listed in this printout. If it's not a WS6, WS6 will not be in the list.
You can look up your codes here: http://www.rpocodes.com/
OR search for a specific RPO here: http://www.gm-trucks.com/rpo-code-lookup/
