It sounds like a humming sort of grinding sound coming from what sounds like the intake it only does it when the car warms up but if I press the gas it will stop then start back up when it hits idle again the car is stock except for a slp MAF censor the previous owner installed. Its a a4 model and it runs perfect no issues with the tranny just this annoying noise

Any codes? When my cats went bad, they made a grinding/rattling noise at idle. Look into that and check your belt to see if its still good or rubbing against anything its not supposed to.

Its not throwing any codes it started doing it about a week ago when temp dropped to freezing since then I've heard it a hand full of times but the weather is still cold I recently changed the oil about 3 weeks ago and used the recommended 5w30. Would that be the cause is the oil is to thin in cold weather

Today to and from work I didn't hear the noise. Weather is warmer though so I'm wandering if its because of the cold weather and maybe because 5w30 oil is to thin for 30 degree days
