Default rear window tint removal - how?

so, been doing research and i am trying to find a good method to remove window tint off the rear hatch I just bought. the hatch is OFF the car - so thats a good thing.

been reading that i can soak the tint with ammonia, then put black plastic over it, squeegee it and let the sun back it for 30 minutes to remove.

I have also read that a portable clothes steamer works just as well too.

anyone have experience with this? I have rear defrost too

i look forward to insight and help

the tint shop steamed the tint off of my rear window on the gto,
then retinted it.

didnt take them too long, and seemed to work well. have had
zero issues with the new tint, and that was almost 3yrs ago.

I got mine off using a heat gun. came off in 2 pieces. was a small amount of residue left in spots. i simply sprayed the glass with "goof off" and let it sit. i scrubbed it with a brush and hosed off and is spotless now. total time was maybe 30 minutes

Razor blade and a spray bottle with soapy water is how I have always done it.

If you go with the razor blade method on the rear, be careful not to damage the defroster lines or they won't work.

Ask me how I know.
