Whats a fair price? 1998 WS6
I'm looking to buy this car, but the price seems high... Please let me know what a fair price would be for this car.
1998 Firebird Formula Trans Am with WS-6 Package.
-Excellent, Excellent condition.
-Have original window sticker, shows WS-6.
-Title says Firebird Formula Trans Am.
-Low miles (44,000) always garage kept.
-Never seen snow.
-Exterior condition is a 9 out of 10
-Interior is a 9 out of 10. Everything works
-Car has a SLP Lid
-Hooker Long Tube Headers
-SLP Loudmouth Exhaust
-Pro 5.0 Shifter Assembly
-Factory LS7 clutch and flywheel, from 07 ZO6.
-Tires in good condition, BFG drag radials in the back and new tires in the front.
Even Engine bay looks detailed.
Let me know, please. From a new member, thanks.

With the low miles I would say the car is worth $12.5K. Thats not a steal and its not a real premium for a low mile WS6. What color is it...that makes a difference too.
The mods hurt it rather than help it...it makes me think the 44K miles are hard miles (especialy with DRs on the back!) Hell he could have made 176,000 quater mile passes in it.

Scary
It sounds like there is a lot of 'pride of ownership' in the car but the 'hard miles' situation is rearing it's ugly head. This is one of those purchases where you need to have money set aside to make repairs because they might come fast and furious in this 10 year old car. Why is he selling? $10,000 would be the highest I would go because I feel a few thousand will be needed within a year or two. You don't want to be down $15,000 or more in two years for a 12 year old car with maybe 60,000-70,000 miles on it. That is why I mention the $10,000 cap for this particular purchase. If you end up with $12,000 in it I'm sure you can get $8,000 back in two years if you keep it decent. That wouldn't be too bad, and even better if you keep the car a long time. Be careful and don't get hurt too bad with a big $$$ hit.

Thanks NC01TA. The guy listed his car at $15,800. I'm sure he left some wiggle room in there as we all do when selling cars but I felt it was toooo high. Granted, where I'm from cars tend to sell for a lil' bit more (west-suburbs of chicago) I'll see if he is willing to work down in the 12k neighborhood for now otherwise i have to walk away from this excellent car.

I agree. New developments include him stating that he has all receipts for work done by "some of the biggest names in the LS1 community" and the original equipment tires. The slicks have 1,000 miles on them and he bought them so he could take it to the track last summer to see how his modifications payed off, or something. Seems like he just uses it as a cruiser, and has occasionally driven it at the track.

I would say that 15+ k for a modded 98 is a little high.Bone stock one's are the cars that get the most money. They are worth less modded,That's in your favor. The owner can put a ton of money into the car and never get it back.On the other hand these cars are collectable and people know it.If you really like the car I would haggle him some.I look for cars where
the owners have all the receipts, that's a plus.
