Default WISH: G8 Layaway

I truly wish there was some way to put one on layaway... (short of buying one and paying on it ) It's so frustrating that GM finally got it right (in my eyes) and now they're killing it off in every way... My wife's lease won't be up till about this time next year and the G8 GT is everything I am looking for and for a great price to boot. We do have an 11 year old daughter too.

We considered various alternatives...
CTS-4 - As close as it gets to G8 GT sans performance and a bigger price tag. (CTS-V would be awesome...)
Camaro SS - I would never want it to be driven in the snow not to mention the backseat leaves a bit to be desired. Performance is awesome. Price is great.
2010 Mustang GT - Decent price, but again the backseat could be an issue. Decent performance. Also have not seen any to test-drive yet.
Imports (Would prefer domestics but not fully against)
Audi A4 - Smaller car overall, underpowered, overpriced, but love the look. (S4 would be awesome but way too much money.)
Infinity G37 Sedan - Decent power, decent price, possible alternative pending test-drive.
BMW 335i Sedan - Again, decent power, but high price tag.
2010 Subaru Legacy GT - Decent space, decent power (although concerned about how the automatic would drive), not out yet so no pricing nor ability to drive.

So really, what comes close to the G8 GT in terms of power, handling, interior space, and price? Thus my wish for being able to put a G8 GT on layway. I can only hope I can find a used or new one when the time comes next year.

I guess you could have of jumped on the 0 APR bandwagon and gone with a 72 month note and sold the f body?

If you put enough down on any car it can be 350 a month.

The payments on the G8 are not a problem but there is no way I could think about doing that WHILE still having my wife's truck.

And no way am I selling the Firehawk!

The short version of my story is
1) It's sad they are discontinuing the G8
2) It's sad the car is not being replicated within another GM brand
3) There are practically no other options out there to get the same "bang for your buck" as the G8.

I agree!! The G8 will be taken for granted until it's far gone. I thinks it's the best affordable/sport sedan on the market! With the biggest bang for your buck. LOL, i also agree with you on not selling the hawk

With all the incentives you can get (plus the government tax rebate for new cars this year) I'm trying to play my cards early before they're all gone...

And as for comparing them, that is no where near apples to apples. Different cars with different purposes.

As close as it gets??!! All year CTS-Vs have more power than G8 GTs, only downfall is the differential problems. Used 04-06s are the same price as used 08-09.5 G8 GTs, $20 and up.

the STS-V is one bad sedan. I drove one a few months ago and it was scary fast from a roll. Everything in your head tells you that there's no way a car this big should be accelerating that quickly.

I didn't think they were getting rid of the G8 until next year when they close Pontiac. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention. I was hoping to pick up a '10 G8 GXP.

Nope, they plan to be completely done with the G8 by EOY 2009. There will be no 2010 model year G8. (at least as far as anyone knows)
