thinking of buying a gto..
so, i recently totaled my formula (been hating myself soooo much and probably will for the rest of my life) and at first wanted to get another f-body, preferably a ws6 but did some thinking about it, and all the things i didn't like about it, i REALLY didnt like about it and couldnt see myself having to put up with it again. so it just crossed my mind, how about a 04 gto? i saw in this forum alot of ppl saying that other than style, the gto is a better car in every way compared to f-bodies. so any suggestions? anything i should look for when looking around at 04 gto's?

if you go over to ls1gto.com there are several threads on this .
radius rod bushing suck ,some had strut rub or leaking struts.
weak rear springs .
the factory bushings are very soft . ie the great ride .
depends on what you want to do , drags = get an auto , dd ethier , road racing get the 6 speed.
most parts that are gto only are expensive , just not that many built.
45,000 cars total and probably 10k of those are already gone .

I bought an 06 new in 06. Had major electrical problems right off the bat. I'm sure it was an isolated incident. Long story short, GM bought the car back under the lemon law. Now I have an 05 and knock on wood, haven't had any issues with the car. I have owned the 05 for two years now. Great car, performance is amazing and the styling is very unique. The interior is one of my favorites and I have to admit, it is more comfortable than my 98 Vette.
OP: Good luck on your search and as others have mentioned. Go to ls1gto.com, you just might find what you're looking for. I have been a member there for almost a year now and I have seen many GTOs for sale. Just depends what you want to do with the car.

I've been daily driving a cammed 04 for about 3 years, love the car, very comfy aside from a few electrical quirks, its been pretty solid.
Shitty resale value though, GTO owners can blame themselves for it, years of boasting how cheap they were picking them up....now the prices have tanked

Every car has it's weak points. I have owned PLENTY of F-bodies, and they all feel rickity after a while. The GTO has 70K on it, and not a single squeek or rattle - even with a 3" exhaust. I love it. They aren't as bad as the F-body crowd would have you believe; they are a little heavier than an F-body, and they do have an IRS that can cause some problems. It is easier to lighten one up by a couple of hundred pounds though, and there are some really nice aftermarket parts available to beef up the IRS.

I bought the '04' Barbados Blue GTO in the sig for 12k with 36k on it,and they only made 271 of them, that is an example of deals out there and have not had a single issue exept shitty interior stitching.
