cam questions
i have an 06 A4 and looking to get a cam. its a DD and i want something to give me good power without absolutely killing my gas mileage. my HP goals are around 420 after the tune. ive been looking at the Streetsweeper LSX or the streetsweeper HT from flowtech induction. they sell the whole package for $975 free shipping. i got a friend who has a comp cam in his camaro and is telling me i should go with comp cams. what do your guys opinions. I've had the SS HT for the last 5 years and it is a great cam. With a lower duration it will DD much better. It has a flat torque curve and comes on strong at 2,500 RPM. On my LS1 with my intake, 80mm TB, LTs, exhaust and UD I put down over 425 RWHP. After heads I'm making 470 RWHP. If you do the tune correctly you can have this cam with no surge at all. I can lug at 1,100 RPM and the car is smooth. Ed uses Comp Cam cores so you can tell your friend you do have a Comp Cam

yea i mean i was set on the SS HT but i really want to make sure im gonna get the power that i want out of it thats why i didnt know if the HT or the LSX. im not planning on doing any head work or intake work either. i mean ive had this car since 07 and its taken me this long to get where i can get the cam and retune it.

You can get the SS-HT with Lunati parts from Ed for a hair over $800. He just posted about it on ls1gto. I can't decide between the Torquer V.2 and now the SS-HT myself. I guess I'll have to search and look for people dyno's. I want good mid-range and top end, but the cams are very close, so which ever appears to come on at the lowest RPM.

Thats not bad at all for an A4. You could pick up some more with an OTRCAI. So looks like close to 370 is possible with headers, intake, tune. Yeah I'm hoping for 420-ish myself after cam/before stall

Not trying to sound stupid but what's. OTR? Well when u get your cam let me know what kind power your putting down and if I get mine before you ill let u know what I put down since we have the same HP goals

My 04 GTO cam with MS3 cam 237/242, .603"/.609", 113 LSA along with L/T, catted X and spintech, which I switched out for flowmasters because the spintechs made the car way too loud. The car is my d/d and I drive about 300-350 miles per. week. I have no complaints about the driveabilty with these cams. I don't know how much the cam negatively affected MPG but I get about the same if not slightly better MPG than I did with my 06 Mustang GT with bolt-ons and 4.10 gears. The GTO dynoed 391/360.
