Pulling out 06 GTO motor & engine harness?
Hey guys. I just recently picked up a 2006 GTO for a pretty good deal, but the engine needs to be pulled. Threw rod. It is a 6spd transmission. Would it be easier to take the engine harness off the engine first? or Unplug the Harness from the ECM and just pull the motor with harness attached? Secondly you you recommend pulling the motor from top or underneath?
I've tried searching to look for GTO builds with pictures to get an idea on different forums, but really couldn't find any. I want information from those who have actually pull a GTO motor, not just opinions.
Thanks guys.

Unhook the wiring, then pull it out through the top. It's a pretty easy pull and I've had my engine out in less than two hours start to finish with the motor on the stand.
Don't know about the newer ones, but just to warn you on my 04 there is no drain plug for the coolsnt, just have to pull the hoses and sin the flow towards a pan lol

Thanks for the replies guys, i really appreciate it! I'm hoping to have it pulled this weekend to see the damage. I'm just going to try to leave the harness on the motor and pull it. obviously unhooking the necessary items to free the engine to be pulled lol

i would leave the harness in the car and just pull what is nessary off so that way its alot easier to put back in and have the plugs in the exact location but thats me ive done both

I have all the front sensors, as in the alt., temp sensor, all coil packs, injectors, ECM, etc pulled. The starter looks like it will be a bit difficult to unbolt the wires. But yeah definitely taking my time. Thanks guys
