Is the GTO a good DD?
I found a 04 GTO locally that appears to be good low mileage car. It has 61000 miles, auto trans and 100% stock. The car is pretty clean inside and out. I drive 45 miles round trip to work on mostly country back roads. I drove the last weekend felt solid. I know that most want a m6 ls2 GTO but as a DD it shouldn't matter to me. I have a 10 sec Trans Am already. I think for the right price this would be a great car to drive to work and not hate to drive like the lancer I drive now. But I am a little concerned about some of the know issues on these cars. Just want to know what everyone thinks.

Yea gas mileage is not a big concern. I would figure that I can average about 17-20 in a gto. I just hate driving little import cars all the time. Since your in your DD the most, I am tired of slow, crappy gas savers. I want something to drive and enjoy

What does everybody think about the suspension issues on the cars. Are they really that common on well taken care of cars or just ragged out ones. Just don't want to buy a money pit for a DD. I would put some exhaust and a cai, then just drive it. Not much of a selection for V8 cars under 13 grand. Of course I want some ls based.

Overall, I love mine as a DD. Even after a cam and bolt-ons it runs great and gets pretty good gas mileage (15-16 city 22-23 highway.)

Comfy, engaging to drive, and spacious for 4. It definitely makes a great daily, replace the rear springs, strut mounts/bearings, and front radius rod bushings and you should have nothing to worry about. If you run into any other issues, everything is well documented on ls1gto.com and should be a fairly easy fix.

The reason I said a auto is because the car is local and can probably be had for a good price. But I don't see the reason to not buy an auto. I drive for UPS so sometimes I drive 5speed pkg car and you will not want to drive a 6spd home after all day of that.

If you get a solid car, it's a great driver. I used to drive mine daily with tt and get nearly 30 mpg on the fwy with a 6 spd. Suspension is a cheap upgrade if you need it. Don't let that be a buying factor. The diff is the only expensive item to get right if yours needs new gears. I have been able to save many factory gear sets, this reduces cash outlay if you have a diff issue and need it gone through.
