Need Help With My Gto
hey guys, this is my first time on this site. well with my name.. i always on with my buddy whose got a camaro.. i got some questions about my car.. i got $1000 to play with and i was wondering what was the best direction to go spend it..
i was told that i could keep my stock carrier and just put the 3.73:1 ring and pininon for a 8.5in GM rear... is that true?
What kind of Shift Kit Could i put it?
Is it worth it to get the Factory settings tuned at SLP?
(already have a K/N CAI, And a Muffler Delete)
Pretty much just trying to go fast down that quarter mile track!!

Do not by a handheld for a GTO, you will just end of selling it when you start modding. A Street or Dyno Tune is much better.
If your goal is to go faster down the 1/4 and $1000 is all you have and don't plan on more call Nitro Dave and get one of his kits. That will be the best bang for the buck with all the safety switches you need. Our stock shifter does indeed suck but I would do that next. Dont worry about a Catback until it becomes a restriction.

You cannot use anything else but GM gears in the GTO diffs. You can only get them from Difftechnics in Australia.
Get some long tube headers and a street tune. World of differance. And well worth the $. But it will be a few more than $1k.

lol can you bump it up to 1,500? then you could get LT's, and catback.. depending on the brand. but then you would need a tune as well.... which could be expensive unless you find a good deal. (dyno tune)

I'd say drag bags, drag radials and a tune to change the shift points and get some extra hp. $100 for the DBs, $400 for the radials and rims and then $500 for the tune. I'd say you'd pick up a half second after some practice, over stock.
