WHOA!!!!!!!!! A few quotes from the site...
[quote]Sorry, due to security reasons, picture of TM-5000 not available.....
The TM-5000 is the most advanced Traction Control system on the market today offered by Davis Technologies. It is so advanced that it is virtually impossible to detect. In fact we have never had a customer caught with any of our systems..... However, these units are only available to previous customers, or new customers with a referral.....Due to the nature of this product, this is all we can say online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however we strive to protect the interest of our customers....

Hey Lou, nice writeup.
You certainly don't pull any punches on those traction control comments.

I do know how it works, but I'll let my dad talk on this one. Very simple, yet so sophisticated. think small....

Valve stems? Wheel wheights? Lug nuts? It has to be in the rotating wheel assembly somewhere to sense slippage, right?

I've heard of a system that uses fiber optic lines that are so small they can be painted over and never seen. I've also heard of sensors being put in drilled out lugnut studs.
You hear alot of rumors of what people are doing at the roundy-rounds.

I have heard of similiar type things used in Dirt Track racing and it sort works as a Rev limiter.
If the Rev's pick up too fast then the box cuts off the iginition like a rev limiter.
Is that how this works, too?

The TC unit is so small it can be hidden in the drivers helmet. And when he connects his radio, he is also connecting his TC.
It works by checking the Delta of the RPMs. In other words, if the rpms raise to fast, you must be sspinning the tires. so the TC unit pullss out timing, (and thus HP) until the tires stop spinning. the TC unit limits the timing retad to 15 degrees, but that is enough to take away over 100hp on a Trans Am race car. If you cannot control the tires then, you deserve to lose.
The good drivers only see about .8 sec reduction in lap time, but that can be the difference between 1st and 10th in qualifying.
The cheap TC units are planted right in the MSD box, under the boad, and then potted in place with silicon.
The rules makers are serioussly considering making it legal. If they cannot catch it, then only the cheeters will have it, and the racing will be one sided. they made it legal in
Formula one, and Cart Indy cars allow it with an unspoken rule.
