Default 1990 C4 ZR1 (Lingenfelter 368 package)

My dad recently acquired a 1990 ZR1 corvette. On top of that, its a Lingenfelter 535hp package and all original in great shape. It has 85k miles and with about 10-15 hours of professional detail, would make a solid 9 out of 10 car.

With it being a C4, its hard to value something like this. Add in the fact it's the bulletproof, desirable LT5 and on top of that...its a Lingenfelter ZR1 (which it appears there were less than 100 made).

Any idea what this thing could be worth to the right buyer? Other than the ZR1 badging, it appearance only indicates its a stock C4.

Miles are on the very high side for this model....most of them are under 30K miles. The photo looks great. Probably 15K or so just for the ZR1 side of things. Autotrader has plenty of regular ZR1's with miles in the teens or 20K's with asking prices in the mid $20's. It really comes down to well documented it is. This was an original $22K+ package if traced back to 1990/1991. That should mean an extra $7K-$10K today. The car has to also compete with the prices of more current/used 500+ hp Vettes. The car cost about $80K+ new. Should be worth in the $20's. Maybe someone else can fine tune it. I would think very limited demand for that many miles. ZR pricing sort of flat for the past 10 years. Found one guy who saw a ZR1 LPE with 245K miles.

Ran across this 2011 post on the Corvette Forum. Though in 2011 the performance car market was bottoming out. I suspect prices are no lower today.

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...nvestment.html

The test car was modified by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE), purchased through a GM dealer. Since the Chevy shamelessly whacked Lotus in the knees by demanding a ZR-1 bore spacing befitting the small-block family genes (4.4 inches), LPE tuned, honed and ported the ZR-1 to 6.8 liters, 12:1 compression and a jaw-dropping 660hp. That's all motor, no boost, race fuel or laughing gas.

Let the clutch out and a rush of sixteen fuel injectors fans the flames, while thirty-two valves keep the pressure on your cerebral cortex to a Honda-like 7500 rpm power peak...... Much love to our friends at Car and Driver, who recorded the astounding fact that the LPE ZR-1 does the 0 -150 – 0 hustle in 23.3 seconds. My quarter mile drag verifications came in at 11.7 seconds at a scorching 129 mph, hitting 185 mph in the standing mile.

Another reference I found from an owner stated 475 hp was the base Lingenfelter using the original cubic inches provided. The 475 hp variant cost $17K+ at that time on top of the orig high $50K's price of the stock ZR1. Here's the higher rated variants as of 3 years ago. I would think Lingenfelter work done in the 1990 model year is what brings the most bucks. A more recent upgrade would be a percentage of the following figures.

LPE 350 cid goes up to 475 hp is $15,445
LPE 368 cid goes up to 530 hp is $22,550
LPE 415 cid goes up to 610 hp is $29,990

Lingenfelter says their 465 hp variant is good for 400 hp at the wheel.

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...discussion-50/....ZR1 forum.

Here's a 94 ZR1 on ebay with $160K total "invested," also with Lingenfelter mods. 9,000 miles and 572 hp at the crank. Asking price $30K. With this many mods, it's debatable if it's even a ZR1 any more.

I spent 7 hours on it this week and gave it a quick single step polish. The paint looks good as new now!

As another point of note there has been a standard package ZR1 within the similar mileage grouping for sale for quite a period of time.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-c...-11-000-a.html

Understood that the LPE Packaging adds a significant value but thought it might be noteworthy information in determining your pricing assessment.

My honest opinion of the above car is that $10K for a 375 bhp car is a steal but I think the mileage may be holding it back.

Now on to your car unfortunately because its "special" packaging there are limited comparisons and even historical sales (within the past year or two) to get a good feel of value. With that being said I think its just a matter of setting it at price you feel comfortable at and adjusting based on interest. If it is in the right price range you will get people calling guaranteed.

To throw out a number I am with Firebrian here somewhere between $18-22K with what I would say maybe $20 being the sweet spot.
