Questions about this custom cam.
I am looking into getting back into an ls car after many years. The car I am looking at is a 99 formula A4 with a custom grind cam and no aftermarket converter. The guy says the last owner refreshed the engine during the cam swap and never bothered to do a stall.
The closest cam I can find to this one is a tsp220 although idk much about reading a cam card. So im looking for help. Just let me know what im getting ino before I make a bad decision.
What is this cam all about (power wise) and what stall would suit it best and how should it perform with the stock converter?
Heres the Craigslist ad for the car.

Here is the cam card.

That's a 221/226 114+3
That's a nice little cam. So long as the car has been tuned properly and has a free flowing intake and long tube headers to compliment the added duration and overlap it should drive just fine although that's about as large a cam as you would want to run with the stock converter.

Nice. Thanks for the comments. Guy said the car ran and idled good. Also said it should make around 380whp. I ran a tsp228 on a 150ish shot and it did okay. Is this one of those small cam good track timea cams of the old days and is this good for a 3200 stall and a small shot or is it ideal n/a only with a big stall?

It really just depends on what you want out of the combo.

Awesome to hear man
I actually just found thats a scoggin dicky z+221 cam. A revised version of their 224 cam. They say it doesn't require a higher stall. Not many people running this cam online so theres no track times or dyno results. I suppose I will move forward with checking out this formula.
But if i were to add a stall what would you be most likely to run?

This camshaft will offer nice drivability and good average power in your application. While it would work with the stock torque converter, I strongly recommend upgrading to something a little looser. An aftermarket torque converter is one of the best modifications you can do to an automatic equipped vehicle for performance.

I'm not going to chime on what converter to run unless you buy the car though!

I know Im asking questions so I dont know it all but I do understand a quality converter is a must. I also understand this cam is a low-mid range grind. Im asking what stall because Idk if a 3200 would put this cam in its primary range or a 3600 or higher would be better or if to high would push the car out of its power band when launching. Im not super concerned with driveability although I understand 3200 will quickly feel like stock anyway.
The only setups I can find running this small of a cam (tsp220) is truck guys and there running 3200 stalls.
