I bought a 2006 Silverado 1500 with 6" lift and 35" tires. Going from a 4th gen to this I need more power.

I've giving it thought and I think I want to to throw a cam in it. Something small like a 228r. Any suggestions.

A 228r cam isn't really that small for a 5.3 lifted truck. Its actually a fairly large cam for that application.

You'll need something with more torque in a truck that heavy or it will be a dog.

I would recommend something like this, a 214/220 on 112 LSA. Low lift will work with stock valve springs and 100% stock valvetrain.

I appreciate the response man! And yeah your right with going with a lower lift. Also I don't mind replacing my valvetrain I'm all for buying parts to help support the cam. I just want to keep the truck a Daily Driveable as possible.

What axle ratio does the truck have? You need some gear to make up for those 35" tires, at least a 4.10. Also, a cam like the 228r will need some converter to retain good driving characteristics. If you ever plan to tow anything more than 2000 lbs, you will regret that kind of cam. The recommendation above for a 214/220 cam is solid, and with -7 degrees of overlap at .050 lift, should drive well even with a stock stall.

Like others have mentioned you will be much better off with a milder grind for your particular application. I would recommend looking at something like a 212/218. It will put power in a much more useable range for your application, and help retain some decent low end and mid range power.
