Default goat is in for minor surgery

finally,

with 44,001 miles on the clock (about 10K miles with the Cam/Headers/nitrous)
over 300 passes down the 1320 (75 of them with 500rwhp.600+rwtq), 10-15 bottles of nitrous, nearly a dozen Auto-X events, and alot of "spirited" driving

she goes in for a new clutch
upgrading to the LS7 clutch

for those of you who say it won't handle the power,
look at what the stock one put up with....

I really don't drive her back and forth to work much anymore,
but she makes about 8-10 trips to southern oregon per year
as well as any time I go any distance,

she's still a great road car

That's one hell of a resume for a stock clutch.

as far as I can find (LS2gto.com and here)
it's the only "Stock" clutch to cut a 1.55 60 '

I guess it didn't look so good when it came out,

It will be interesting to see how the LS7 clutch works out for you, personally I think if I was racing a car heavily I would make a different choice.

I'm probably going to be GTO-less by the end of April...

Hey Russ,

Are you replacing your clutch as a sooner or later type deal, or was it starting to act up?

Damn Russ, I thought I was the only one to beat the hell out of my new car, and you may have me beat in total number of passes, good job. Mine still only has 16k for miles and 97% are to/from and down the drag strip, lol. Yea, I agree on the LS7 clutch being questionable. I hang a lot with the Z06 guys at vettefroum and that clutch is considered junk by the C6 Z06 owners. The best with stock motors is a 3500 launch, after that they get glazed, and so far the best 60'er IIRC is a 1.7x. I would check out the C6 Z06 section and ask about said clutch. So, IMO, for the money and how you use your car, a Textralia might be better, and really not much more $$, but it's your call. Then you could join me with the 6000rpm clutch dumps from hell, lol. Sure glad there are guys driving the GM products the way they were designed to be driven.

yeah,

the gto guys "say" the stock clutch won't handle 400rwhp
they also "say" that you can't get faster than 2.0 60' on stock tires (multaple 1.85x's here)
they alwo "say" DR's won't get a 6sp better than 1.8x
ect, ect.....

as far as the tex,
it's over double the price of the z06,
and I can't afford a new rear end (drive shaft, tranny, cv axles, ect.....)

or to be spinning all the way down the track

the little bit of slip allowed by the stock clutch (and possibly by the z06) give me a little more leeway with being limmited to 275 tires on the rear (and, I'm not going away from radials, there's something to be said for running the car at the track the same way you drove it to work that week)

Agreed, that's why i run ET Streets year around. man you had good luck with stock clutch that's for sure. I made one pass with the ls6 clutch and knew it had to go (slipped like a pig) for fast times and the way i like to launch. Actually the ET Streets are easier on running gear for 6-speeds, and I have cut about the same 60's with DR and broke a shaft with DR. My best so far has been a 1.51 on the ETs. Anyway, i hope the ls7 does ya good.

How long are you in VA Casey? I miss hearing your twins spooling at the track.
