I am building a chevy 355 with a rpm air gap intake, 10.1:1 CR and a comp cam roller 282hr cam with 1.52 roller tip rockers. cam spec's are Lift: .510''/.520'' Duration: 282°/288°
I am only planning to run this motor to 6500rpms and starting to wonder if the heads might be alittle too big. any opinions or suggestions

yes it's going in a street/strip s10
that what I was thinking the same thing that these heads maybe alittle big now but will give me room to grow and the 180's would be perfect now but will be too small later down the road
but I did some reading and calling around and looks like these heads will be fine long as a run a decent size cam ie over 500 lift

We ran a set of sportsman II the 200 cc heads on a 355 chevy that had a 750 carb, performer rpm, 234/244 .480/.510 lift, 9.5-1, 1 3/4" headers TH350 with a 3500 stall in a 3rd gen camaro and it was a fun good running street car.
If you ever do much to the car it's going to run out of air pretty quick with a 180cc head.
You have pretty much the same setup with a better cam, your cam duration is 230/236@.050 it should also make peak power under 6,500. We used another cam that was 236/242 and it peaked right at 6,300-6,500 so that cam should work really well with the rpm range you want. I'd shift that right about about 6,200-6,500.

I vote for the 200cc runners. I am using AFR 190cc heads on my 385 and they perform awesome but they outflow most 200cc ports of other heads. Why are you limiting yourself to a 355 vs a 383? I've had both and will never build a stock stroke 350 based engine again after having a 383.
