Question no power in window and radio at random times

I have a 99' trans am and every now and then the radio and windows will lose all power. If i hit the keyless entry pad sometimes it will come on but then shut off. Im not sure if it is a lose wire or bad fuse or what??

It is your BCM. Dry/cracked solder joints.

Pull the BCM (there is a thread linked to in a sticky on how to get to it) and use a soldering iron to reheat the joints on the tall relay. They are big joints that make a T shape.

I'm having a similar problem as well. Every once in a while my radio will shut itself off for about 5 seconds than come back on for 5 seconds and than shut off for 10 seconds. The times fluctuate a lot. One time the radio shut itself off for about 30 seconds. During the radio down time my power windows dont work and when the radio is out and I click my power locks my radio comes back on. I'm no electrical expert so I'm assuming there is a short in the inside harness. Anybody have this happen to them?

Sparky, you mentioned BCM. Where is that at and what does it stand for?

I have also had this problem with my car. BCM= Body Control Module. It controls the RAP system...something accessory power?? Can't remember. Anyway it controls when you turn the car off and the radio and windows continue to work....that. It canalso negatively affect themwhen it doesn't work and does exactly what we have here, no radio or power windows randomly.

The BCM is behind your glove box. Controls stuff like your remote locks and stuff too. The one big relay in there tends to get cracked solder joints, a simple reheat and voila, fixed..

It is linked to in a sticky around here I believe.

RAP = Retained Accessory Power

My 99 TA used to do this back when I got it in 2003 and then didn't do it again until last weekend, it took me at least five or six minutes to get the driver window all the way back up so I am going to take care of it. Do you get the module out through the glove box or do you have to drop the kick panel to get it out?
