Not much... it's very easy. Pull out the head unit, plug the GM9-AUX adapter into the CD changer port (9-pin port with a black connector in it), plug in a patch cable to the RCA jacks on the adapter, and re-install the head unit.

Depending on what you're trying to connect through auxiliary input, you will need a patch cable with the correct plugs to make the connection. The most common use is for an MP3 player or satellite radio which requires a cable with a 3.5mm (1/8") stereo headset plug on one end and a pair of RCA plugs on the other end. These cables are available almost everywhere - Radio Shack, WalMart, etc.

is the patch cable like the one you buy to plug your ipod up to an aftermarket radio?

The cable has a pair of RCA plugs on one end (one red and one white for right and left channels respectively) and a headphone style 1/8" mini stereo plug on the other end.
