Default Security Light????

I recently bought the car with the security light on. The car had some elaborate system (I think) with amps etc. and the radio not working. I went throught it and used most of the wiring that was there to have a functional radio. All of my speakers are wired directly to the head unit instead of the factory harness. Since I did this, the power locks dont work and there is a clicking noise in the dash on the passenger side. Any ideas as to what this could be or to get the security light to go off? Thanks in advance...

I take it the car starts just fine? I believe the BCM (or whatever it's called) is located around the glove box area. Is that where the clicking is coming from? I'll say from the start that I have no idea what is wrong with your car but I'm sure what I'm asking will help someone else who is more knowledgeable about these things to help you better.

Yes, the clicking is coming from near the glove box, and the car does start fine. Thanks for the help.

drop the glove box and look inside the dash under the pass airbag and around the bcm, is there anything wired into the system such as an alarm brain, or any bosch relays? sounds to me like it had an alarm or a remote start system and its going ape ****. do you have a VATS bypass?

I was wondering the same thing. If there was a loose wire or the BCM itself was going haywire. Since it starts fine, that rules out the wires from the ignition lock cylinder to the BCM unless something is spliced into there. When does the clicking occur? During start up, while it's running or just sitting there? When the power locks don't work, is that when you press the button on the key fob or the switches in the car itself?

No, it doesn't. Your VATS system could be in fault enable mode. Read some more about it here:

Default security light

didnt get a chance to look under the dash but the clicking only started once I repaired the stereo. Also the clicking happens anytime that the key is in the "on" position or when the engine is running.

thanks Spartan for the link

does the power antenna work?

can you open the door with the key in the "run" position and lock the doors?

Steering control interface?

only asking cause this started after stereo install.
