TA radio/antenna question
If I disconnect the power to the power antenna will I still be able to listen to CD's. I hate the look of the tall antenna and rarely listen to the radio. I wish somehow we could do a hidden antenna connected to the radio in the dash somewhere.

Yes you will be able to. I did this on my Trans Am because it got annoying listening to the antenna go up. I have a tape player and just plug in my Microsoft Zune and I can play raido through my Zune that hooks up to the tape player.

There are also in-dash antennas that you can get. My power antenna didn't work when I got my car and I just never bothered to fix it since they no longer make them. I am able to get stations with a strong signal up to 40 or so miles from the origin city. Mostly I play CDs and play on a head unit with a USB drive soon. I also plan to delete the antenna completely when I get a paint job in the next couple years.

Apple sucks, Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 (with the Wolfson DAC) FTW (loud as **** and crystal clear), I bought my SGP 4.0 (8 GB model) a case, a 32 GB microsd and an extra battery and still came out 50 bucks cheaper then a 32GB ipod touch.
@ OP easiest to do is there is a plug in the wire about 3-6 inches from the base of the power antenna, just unplug that to disconnect the antenna. My antenna motor is stripped out (doesn't go up or down, but I can hear the gear spinning) so I'm gonna use those wires as a power source for my epicenter, thanks to a wiring diagram I got here.

i just disconnected mine recently because the replacement antenna mast i put in started to show surface rust on it after only 6 months i can still hear stations if i want to, but i listen to my mp3 player 99% of the time (in dash unit with a usb stick attatched to the front of it)
and you're right, the antenna looks much better down, lol.

Since nobody has mentioned the obvious answer...
Put a simple toggle switch in the antenna wire from the head unit. It's the pink wire in the OEM harness or blue in an aftermarket HU harness. When the switch is on, the antenna will go up and stay up. When the switch is off, the antenna will go down and stay down.
