@ OP easiest to do is there is a plug in the wire about 3-6 inches from the base of the power antenna, just unplug that to disconnect the antenna. My antenna motor is stripped out (doesn't go up or down, but I can hear the gear spinning) so I'm gonna use those wires as a power source for my epicenter, thanks to a wiring diagram I got here.
i can still hear stations if i want to, but i listen to my mp3 player 99% of the time (in dash unit with a usb stick attatched to the front of it)and you're right, the antenna looks much better down, lol.
Put a simple toggle switch in the antenna wire from the head unit. It's the pink wire in the OEM harness or blue in an aftermarket HU harness. When the switch is on, the antenna will go up and stay up. When the switch is off, the antenna will go down and stay down.
