give me your h/o alternator success story!
ive tried oem, reman etc. alternators and both optima red top batteries
at the end of a run i am in the high 11's in voltage, no problem exept i want to turn the boost up more, and i need more fuel, cant turn up fuel pressure because pumps are struggling at that pressure/voltage
ANYWAYS
everybody and their mom pretends to have 'special' cs130d alternators but i havent ready any real world sucess stories under real heavy loads. this isn't a small pulley fixer. im not looking for your typical ebay upgrade, i already have upgraded the components inside the factory alt.
my alternator sits inthe stock spot, with a turbo header within a half inch of it, and it runs hard as **** to do what it already does.
i have been looking at the denso hairpin mods they do now, but i dont really have a warm and fuzzy without some satisfied customers to back it up.
i also have concerns for the charging post sticking toward the steering rack or the header, and of course i definitely cant fit an alt larger than cs130d case
if mechman or dcpower owners are in the building, i would love to know
please and thanks!

as in a custom bracket to move the alt around?
that would be a last ditch effort, i suppose i could go in both directions for now.
ah i see the 'denso alt' mount they do.. i think that is a light weight light load mini alt he has prepped for, but another option
tho if paying 500 for an alt. to fit in stock spot, or 200 for bracket to fit 300 alt.. i would probably do the first thing to keep changes to a minimum.

I put an AD244 alt in the stock location in my 2002.
The AD244's are used in Escalades, Hummers and Tahoes, I believe.
It is a little bigger, OD wise and a use of a bigger belt is recommended.
I didn't at first, but I didn't like how tight it was, so I bought a belt that was 10mm bigger (IIRC). Moving to the AD244, you don't use the rear little bracket, but other than that it is all plug and play.

unfortunately it doesnt fit for me not with the factory bracket anyways

sort of, battery relocation!
i have #2 from battery + to starter, and #4 for the short trip around the trans from starter to alt
i have #4 straight from battery - to block, also have short section to frame in rear
i have #4 from battery plus thru 175a moroso switch to #4 down other side of the car to acessory post
I have a small jumper wire from acessory post to alt open 'sense' pin i forget which letter, so that the alt does not self regulate, but regulates based off the acessory post (low point) thats worth about .2v
I have bs3 (ignition) and my gas tank fuel pumps connected to the battery directly
intercooler pump, methanol pump, trans fan, gauges, all other original car operations radfans etc connected to acessory post.

I run a DC Power 270XP that has been awesome, and I use a good battery, a Deka 9A31PH. Optima batteries, on the other hand, are junk. Look up recent battery discussions on DIYMA (or even here, though DIYMA will have more info than here) if you don't trust me on that.

Just checked my Powermaster catalog (I run a PM 200A on my 4.6), there is an app for the LS 1.
Give Tommy a call at 630 967 4019, ext 251. Their customer service is great!

I been running a PowerMaster 58203 for years with a 10%UD crank pulley and a 3K rms watts stereo without any problems. The 58203 is a little bit larger(CS144 Case) than the factory GM alternator that came on my car, and I did have to clock the case for it to fit.
