The most common cause is dirt on the chip contacts in the key or on the contacts inside the ignition cylinder. Clean the key with a pencil eraser, rubbing alcohol, or spray contact cleaner. If that doesn't solve the problem then use the spray contact cleaner in the ignition cylinder.
