Need alternator help
I bumped up the alternator in my 2001 LS1 WS6 to a 160amp, and have had charging problems at idle. So, I ordered an ASP Overdrive alternator pulley, and my question is, what belt do I need to get now? I have all stock pulleys except for this ASP overdrive pulley on the alternator.
Thanks for the help!

See if the stock one will fit. Sometimes there is enough slack there, sometimes there isn't I think you can just go to autozone or where ever, tell them what car you have, ask them for a belt 1 size bigger, and see if that fits.

Try the regular belt and see if the tensioner will take up the slack, if NOT, you need to get the parts store to measure yours, and get one 1 1/2" shorter. Trust me, I did alot of research on this for mine, but I have the underdrive crank pulley. I really doubt the spring loaded stock tensioner is going to take up the slack and still have ENOUGH tension to keep the belt on.

Well, it comes in Wednesday, so I'll see if the stock tensioner will eat up the extra. I'm pretty sure the new pulley is smaller, so if it doesn't work, I'll hit autozone and get one 1/2" shorter. Thanks for all the advice guys!

Okay, got everything in and working. I spent about 45 minutes tyring to get the damn pulley off with the alternator still on the car. Finally I gave up, pulled it off, and make quick work of it with the impact. Also, for those who may attempt this, the belt to use is Gates model number: K060785. Its 1/2" shorter than the stock belt and fits perfectly.
