Default out of the ordinary...

hey guys, i didnt know where to post this but here goes....my friend drives a '97 grand prix se, and asked me for some help. i guess his window stopped working today. now the problem is the window will not go up. however the motor still runs and makes an almost "grinding" sound. anyone know what might be the problem? i am going to tear her open soon just want to see if i can get a good guess as to what it might be before the surgury...thanks for the help!!!

regulator is probably screwed up.

All setups have gears. One is probably stripped. This could be bad luck, or there could be something in the window system jammed or needing greased.

Take care to check for smooth operation because if you just replace the motor and the track problems are still there, it'll just strip out / burn up the motor again.

Try to do a little research too, some window systems are pretty complicated with various levers and preloaded springs.
