What adapter harness will i need for this Apline HU?
Just curious. Dudes up at the local shop said i had to have a specific one if i wanted my Monsoon system to work correctly. If i got the wrong harness, only my tweeters would play and i'd have to bypass the monsoon (that's what they said).

Thanks for the help and appreciate the patience. I'll leave everyone alone once i get this worked out.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I just tried this:
Click on "Please select your car".
Fill out the information.
Then click on "Free installation gear & info worth $39.96 included"
I just tried it and the harness the came up looks like the right one.

nah, had an old Xplod layin' around and i think there's a problem w/ it. I got $130 credit at a local store and i'm gonna put it toward this alpine.
The reason i don't "trust" the one that crutchfield "outfits" you w/ (i knew about this feature, you're not being rude but i already knew) is b/c i took my Xplod to a local shop and the harness i had for IT looked EXACTLY like the one on crutchfield. The shop told me it's not the correct harness, and would only power my tweeters. So that's why i'm sketpical.

If I remember correctly, its the same harness connector and layout that GM used in various vehicles from 85 or 88 onward (new GM vehicles are completely different though). The shop may be confused with a different car. If the one you have looks like the one on Crutchfield's site, its probably the right one. I don't know if there are any others that will connect to the stock harness. Best Buy and Circuit City also have the correct harness.
I'll admit I'm not an expert on this though.... maybe Whitebird00 will chime in.

In the Monsson FAQ, There is a wiring diagram that will tell you what each wire does. If that harness has all those wires and connects to the factory connector (excluding the CD changer connector), then it should be the correct harness (at that point, I don't see how it couldn't be). Double check to make sure that you didn't reverse the positive and negative to the speakers. Technically they will still work, but in reverse. In which case they may not sound right or be missing bass.

was wonderin, why not upgrade to the 9883 or 9885? it comes with a free ipod cable through crutchfeild. pluss i went down to best buy the other day to take a look at the 9885 and to me the over all color and lights would look good with the stock dash.

Because i can't get it from crutchfield, i have to get it at one of my local shops cause they wouldn't give me a refund for the product they sold me (led me to believe it was what i needed, but yeah they sold me the wrong thing and wouldn't give me a refund), they only gave me store credit ($130). Otherwise i would get it off crutchfield.
Aaaaaand it's an extra $100

I'm sure I've mentioned this in your other threads but many car audio shops (and especially the big box ones like Best Buy and Circuit City) have no idea how to handle a Monsoon system. They seem to think that there is something special about the head unit like there was with the Bose system in earlier Camaros.
So...one last time...there is absolutely nothing special about a Monsoon head unit - it's just an ordinary Delco HU. You use the same standard GM adapter harness that has been used since 1988 (the one that Crutchfield includes).

Yeah you have, but i can't hear it enough. Don't mean to be doubting everyone, it's just that after i loss all my bass from a simple HU swap and no one can figure out why, i'm skeptical of alot of things. Sorry if i'm getting on nerves, i just happen to have an oddball system i guess.

Did you make sure that you didn't accidentally swap the positive and negative wires in the harness? That can cause the speakers to sound odd and/or lose bass.
