Default Mute button trouble

So sometimes I hit my mute button and it only mutes aslong as I hold it down. Sometimes it will mute but after a minute or so it kicks back on buy its self. And sometimes it does its job. Anybody have an idea on whats going on?

mine does that too intermittently, not sure what the hell it is, but the contacts are clean, and the radio shouldn't be crapping so soon imo

Ha mine mutes for like 2 seconds then comes back on. I can get it to mute for longer but i can't touch the wheel or it comes back on.

How do you take the buttons apart to inspect/clean them?
