Amp + subs?

Amp + subs? I'm debating which Alpine Type R's to get and I don't know TOO much about what Ohms mean etc. so I am currently stuck between the following:
2 12"
Alpine SWR-1222D (TYPE R)
2 Ohm
2 12"
Alpine SWR-1242D 12" Type-R.
4 Ohm
Both are 1500w Peak and 500w RMS... which should I go with?
Also what amps would you suggest with each one? I have around $300 to spend on the amp.

$300 should get you a decent amp.

You can also find Kicker amps on ebay pretty cheap.
You can buy either of those subs depending on the amp. If the amp runs at 1 ohm (stable), then you want the dual 4 ohm subs. If the amp runs at 2 ohm (which most do), then you want the dual 2 ohm subs.

They are dual 2 ohm VC, and if you have 2 subs you can bring them both to a 1 ohm, then connect them togather so that you get a 2 ohm load.

Yeah, i can agree with that.
Eather way, cap or no cap, that amp the Alpine MRP-M850 should be plenty of power, also its under $300. What is your budget?
If you have an adequete alternator with good power wires and grounds a cap is uneccessary. I've never used one even with larger systems I've built. If I can't get it done with alternator power and big 3 upgrade to help make the electrical system more efficient...then I would rather use an additional smaller battery like a Kinetik over a cap.
A cap is no where near being called a battery. They are two totally different things.
I think the Alpine amp will be struggling for to power the two type-rs. Considering where gains should be, he'll probably be feeding them under half of what they can safely take. That is quite a bit of power (or lack thereof).

caps dont do ****. i have 2 15's in my t/a off a single JBL amp and of coarse the amp cant really do the setup justice. i have another amp on the way and am afraid it still wont be enough, so ya too much is a matter of opinion. i might do 2 18s, running 1k watts a peice and still no cap. like said, good battery/alt/grounds/power cable, you'll be fine. Big 3 would be good to do, i know my car needs it bad.
