Default anyone make a custom gauge pod?

i was thinking about making a fiberglass pod for my 3, 2 1/2" gauges as i think the a-pillar is a little ricey (just my opinoin) and i was going to make it sit ontop of my vents... just wondering if anyone has done this?

I think it looks sweet when they sit in the AC vents. But thats also compromising alot unless you have the HVAC deleted.
