2 encounters in one night!
After a fun night at the track, I had two fun encounters. Both were from a roll unfortunately but fun none the less! :driving:
Encounter #1
On the way home from the track, on the freeway, my buddy Joe and I decided to run for ***** and giggles.
His car/mods: 01 C5, 1 7/8 Kook’s, off-road X, B&B bullets (I believe), FAST 90/90, intake and a bad *** tune.
My car/mods: 06 GTO, 1 ¾ coated Pacesetters, cats, Magnaflow x-pipe/catback, intake and WOT dyno tune.
Anyway, we figured he’d just walk away as he regularly traps 111-112mph vs my best of the night, 109mph (terrible track, don’t ask…..).
I look around, checking the V1 to make sure there aren’t any “sneaky pete’s”. All was well so we started off at 65mph, both in 3rd gear and he honked it off. Right off the bat, we’re door and door with me creeping ahead slowly to about a fender. I hit 4th just a little sooner than him and held my “lead” that was very short lived. He then slowly started to creep back up and by about 125ish, he had pulled half a car and we shut down.
We were both pleasantly surprised and both enjoyed how good of a race it was. Neither of us could believe how close it was when you look at our trap speeds.
Encounter #2
My best run of the night at the track was against an intake/cat back Magnum SRT-8. He went 13.3 @ 104.9x with a 2.081 60’ to my 13.21 @ 109 with a 2.1 60’, both on street tires (reminder, terrible track).
Well, I ran into this same gentleman, just after running my buddy’s C5. He got right next to me and paced me. I looked over, smiled and dropped into 3rd around 60-65. I gassed it a few times to let him know I was game and he takes off. I was ready for this and I immediately began pulling. By the time I went for 4th I had a car. I took it to about 125ish again and finished with a solid 2 car lead. I was honestly surprised at how well the SRT8 pulls up top. I had heard stories but didn’t understand until I saw it myself. We both exchanged our thumbs up and continued on our trek home.
Damn good racing! A real close race but a loss with a good friend and a win against a formidable opponent…. Can’t beat that.

Thanks buddy. Hey now, the ol'goat isn't exactly light either

Thanks man. Yea, we both were. SRT8 was definitely capable of more than what the track was indicating. Remember though, I gave him the jump too
