Default 96 ws6 vs 98 ws6 100 shot

Ok my phone wont let me post on ltxtech but it will on here so my hands are tied. Ive raced two cars this past week that i thought i would lose badly. I really think my car has mods that i dont know about. As far as i know its just full exhaust and a pcmforless tune. I raced my buddies 98 this thursday at the track. He ran a 8.7 on spray. I didnt know he had put spray on it until afterwards. He normally runs 9.2s at this track. He killed me out of the hole and put me at his rear bumper and i pulled him in to where my nose was at his front fender. His mods as far as i know are just exhaust and the spray. Its a a4 and its a 100 shot dry kit. We went to the street and ran from a 40 roll and i put a car and a half out of the hole on him. He hit the spray and pulled me in to his bumper was at my bumper but i held him there until around 150 and he let off. I raced the 98 ta from a 40 roll as well. Dont know the specs but i know its got a pretty choppy cam, tb, full exhaust, and ptc stall dont remember what size. I put her at my rear wheel and held her there until 140 or so and she started to pull around me slowly. By 150-155 maybe more my speedo is wrong so im not sure (have 3.42s but its set for 3.73s which is what the rear was supposed to have when i got it) she had my front bumper at her rear bumper. All i know is she said 140 when she started to pull me in and i was well into 5th. Sadly i dont have vids but im not on here to prove anything just proving the point i dont think my car is a stock lt1. Now the point of this is seeing as these are my suspicions is there an easy way to tell if my car has a cam without pulling it out cause if im going that far im putting a cam in. It normally idles at 900 but if it idles down around 700-800 it has a little lope but it runs rich cause my o2s are bad so i thought it was that at first now im not so sure. When i got the car the rev limiter was set at 6600 and when i got it tuned for my exhaust i moved it back to 6100 cause i figured the guy was a tard since it was only a hypertech and had a flowmaster muffler stock cats and all. So could my theories be correct? Ive beaten a few other ls1s a4s and m6s and even pulled a mach 1 by 3 or 4 lengths. I was hoping to rerun and get vids but i dropped my camera this morning and broke the screen on the back so i gotta by one first. So whats everyones thoughts and please no "well no way it beat those cars stuff" im just using those to prove why i dont think its stock not to rile anyones feathers. Im running 2-4 tenths faster at the track then most stock ls1s which doesnt seem right for an exhaust only lt1 the few modded lts around here ive found dont hold a candle to my car or ls1s.

Exhaust and 100 shot and 8.7?? That's stock times. What part of Alabama? What track? What do you run?

North east alabama. The track is section dragstrip. Best my car has put down is a 8.98 @ 82.5 mph but thats with a 2.2 60 foot. Ive got all kinds of driveline problems. Gonna run this sat at moulton where my car would be in alot better air and alot better track but they had a big event and didnt let street cars run but they hd some bad ***** out there that night lol. Most ls1s there are around 9.3-9.0s. Most lt1s are 10.0-9.7. Thats round about btw lol some have gone faster but im not sure on everyones mods.

Its the track lol. They dont prep it for crap and the air sucks there as well but its only 5 mins from the house and $10 for test and tune lol. Huntville is 45 mins away and moulton is 2 hours. Never been to steele or brainerd. My buddy has a 96 v6 that has a 5.0 t5 swap fcam and gt40 intake as well as weld draglites that has run a best of 9.13 dont remember mph. So yeah compared to most tracks sections sucks lol. Oh a friends 2v new edge on 100 shot ran a 9.6 against my car. Im new to drag racing on tracks and most people say that section is the slowest track in our area.

Edit oh i forgot to mention i live on the top of a mountain and the track is up here as well and almost 100 degree weather and extreme humidity doesnt help lmao

My LT car ran an 8.2 in the 1/8th with your basic gears/stall, cheap Ebay headers/ory, and SLP catback in 2700 da with a 1.7 60 ft

That track prep must suck!

Yeah plus my car gets 2.2 60s no matter what i try or how i leave. Best ive gotten is a 2.13. It will bog leaving at 2500 but spin at 3000. 26-2700 bogs a little 27-2800 spins just a little but still cant get a 60 for crap. Bought drag radials mounted on speedlines and my clutch slipped so i cant win for losing. Btw nice ws6

That is about right... Most stock A4s in Huntsville run mid-high 8s... Exhaust/intake/tune bottom 8s... Converter and you got 7s easy.

The air isn't THAT bad in Northern Alabama. On a bad night you might see some 2700-2800.. Good night is 1800-2000.
I would be going to Huntsville for now on if I were you. I cut 1.50s-1.52s on worn out drag radials.
I personally have not even heard of that track. I have went to Brainerd once and will never go back, it blows! I couldn't cut better than a low 1.7 short time and if you go and run 2 hours before the sun goes down you are staring into the sun, very dangerous! Might as well run on the street.
Steele is a nice track but I don't go cause its about 2.5 hours for me.

You need a slick for a manual car, period.

Your car has more than just exhaust IMO.

FWIW... Buddy went down in him LT1 firebird formula A4 and ran some high 9s, it is stock with a LM exhaust. This was this past weekend in Huntsville.

Doubtful... Chances are he saw the guy that bought my rims. He also has a Pewter Ws6.
Here is the schedule for this year.
http://www.huntsvilledragway.com/schedule.html

It does change from time to time so check back a day or two before you plan on going

They are very nice rims. I bought them brand new and they were 1150$ shipped, mounted and balanced. That price was with the Nexan N3000s on all four with lugs.

Not bad at all. Which rims are those exactly? There are a couple that are similar lol. How often do you go? Now im curious as to what it may have done and seems like the only way to know would be to pull it apart and as its my dd i cant. I could ride a bike i guess lol i literally work maybe 2-3 miles from the house.

RPM r-505s Mine were 18" on all four.

When the car is running.....
As hot as it is now, MAYBE once a month but thats pushing it. I hate sitting in the heat and the cars run like ****.
When it cools after the sun goes down in about a month we go at least once a month.

Pull the valve covers and check springs... Shouldn't take 20 minutes.

If i wasnt saving for a sts kit i would buy it. Ive been gathering parts to support it. Not installed yet but ive got some umi parts and 4.10 gears in the garage waiting as well as a ported and polished intake and ls1 brake upgrade.

Maybe we will catch you up there one weekend. I may pick up some gaskets and o2s next week and get it idling right and check my valvetrain out.
