Bone Stock C5Z vs. 201X GT500
On my way back from Tennessee to Tampa during Christmas going down I-75. Actually on the phone with Lemons12 talking about a race prior to this one. All of the sudden out of nowhere, a pewter GT500 was almost in my passenger seat with me, had to be doing 130+, thought it was about to be a wreck. So I hop off the phone and move over a lane. Guy pulls up and gives me a thumbs up, and I give him 3 fingers (3 honks). Guess he really didnt understand so he dropped a few gears and left. We were both doing about 80 mph. As he left, I dropped down to 3rd and moved back into the lane and got behind him and I was up his tailpipes in about 5 seconds to where I had to back off the accelerator. I couldn't move over a lane to pass him due to Christmas traffic. I shut it down around 135-140 mph and he just kept going around a curve somehow keeping control and disappeared. Wish we could have gotten a cleaner run in but I think he knew what the outcome was going to be since he wasn't getting away from me. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the old girl for being stock. Again, I'm thinking it was the 2010 Gt500, since IIRC the 2011 had weight reduction and power boost. His mods were unknown, but I am thinking at least an exhaust system.

I raced an older GT500 with bolt ons and pulled it steady.
Then I raced a 11'+ and he was dead even with me...so I would guess pre 11' as well

We had a sick looking grey 08 with grey wheels. Bone stock though but very disappointed with the amount of power the car just didnt pull like you would expect at all for 500hp. The LS3 vettes i drive definitly are faster and feel much faster. I do admit though they do look nice and the new ones that are coming out look even better with more power.

checked online and found a video of a shelby supersnake racing a GTR...think it was titled GODZILLA VS SUPERSNAKE...it was the 1/4 mile race...GTR ate it up...and yeah i like the gt500's as well, my boss has one...told me sraight out that he cannot get traction and has lost a lot of races he should never have lost....all i said was try some drag radials....he then looked kinda confused...lololol..

checked online and found a video of a shelby supersnake racing a GTR...think it was titled GODZILLA VS SUPERSNAKE...it was the 1/4 mile race...GTR ate it up...and yeah i like the gt500's as well, my boss has one...told me sraight out that he cannot get traction and has lost a lot of races he should never have lost....all i said was try some drag radials....he then looked kinda confused...lololol..
I have watched several GT500's run mid 12 and shower at the track on stock tires cause they burn off the tires.
They have said to fix this for the new 2013 650hp GT500 with its launch control. It is rumored to run mid 11s on its stock tires and go easy 10s with a tire swap while still a full wright of 3800lbs .

some people on this forum hate mustangs, i don't...yeah the new 2013 gt500 is gonna a beast...would love to see one run with slicks....i know in the new mustangs and fast fords mag on the cover i believe evan smith is road testing one...gonna go and check it out later today...10's with slicks...i can easily believe that...i would to own one...and again i do not hate fords, i hate people who do not take care of whatever it is they own and it looks like crap...

OHIOBORN...did you see the video on that supersnake with 750hp that almost broke the dyno...they matched it up against a challenger from some tuner and a supercharger SS...they said it lost because of traction issues....just like you said...

Call me crazy but I'm really not a fan of the C6 Z06. I respect them no doubt buuut (flame suit on) with 427cid and the body and weight of the car I expect more. I like the LS3 motor and my fav Vette right now is the C6 GS. I drove my dad's C5 Z06 for a while and I really liked it. Miss that car...

Call me crazy but I'm really not a fan of the C6 Z06. I respect them no doubt buuut (flame suit on) with 427cid and the body and weight of the car I expect more. I like the LS3 motor and my fav Vette right now is the C6 GS. I drove my dad's C5 Z06 for a while and I really liked it. Miss that car...

STOPSIGN...yes i also love the grand sport's as well...for the money between the other 'vette's the GS is the bargain no doubt....and also love the C5Z's also...i guess you couldn't go wrong either way...also checked out the new MUSTANGS AND FAST FORDS on the 2013 SHELBY...there expecting 11.65@124.00 i believe...should do a hell of a lot better with a tire...

I am at dealer now. Going to an auto. Will be switching everything over.
