Modded cobalt ss vs turd gen. *VIDEO*
Went to a local car meet last night and drove up with some buddies and one of them was in a cobalt ss. Wanted to play a bit but didnt get to until we got there and talked a bit.
He wouldnt tell me all of his mods for reasons unknown. These are what i found out.
Cobalt: exhaust, upgraded intercooler, custom tune(he tuned his own car), and was running around 14 psi. His car is the turbo to, not s/c. *if anyone knows how much power hes putting down please let me know!*
Me: exhaust, custom cai, and 75 shot. Pretty stock besides the juice.
First run i missed third and second he jumped and held it til 110 where i slowly reeled him in but we didnt have enough room.
Anyways we decided to do a 3 runs at a 45 roll. Here is run #3... other videos were to long to sent to my phone. (sorry about the crappy quality)

Is your sig accurate and you have an LS1/T56 in your IROC? If its pretty stock with a 75 shot you should have waxed that guy if the mods you listed on him is accurate. I'm guessing he lied and he's modded more than he said.

Yea, if that dude pulled you WHILE you were using a 75 shot, he's modded a ton more than he said. My buddies stock 2001 TA pulled on a stage 1 tuned cobalt SS. With only a few bolt ons supposedly, you should have waxed him.

Believe it or not, the Cobalt SS turbos can actually go pretty damn fast on the stock turbo. Full bolt on tuned cars make like 320+whp/360+wtq. And hes fulla **** saying its in 14psi. They run more than that stock. There is a turbo Cobalt SS around here that has the GMPP Stg1 kit and when I was stock with a lid and no cats he gave my car a fit 60-130. I still pulled him but he was dead on my *** till about 115 or so......

Another third party source said he was in a 12.51 class and he was running 13.2s before the intercooler or some bolt ons. Cant remember for sure

my lnf in my solstice gxp (same engine as the cobalt) ran 23 lbs on the dash gauge with the gmpp stage 2 tune. if i remember right it was either 15 or 17 lbs from factory. the torque on those engines is amazing. my tune went from 260 ftlbs to 340 ftlbs all under gm's factory warranty. it seemed to run out of steam at about 130ish mph but the cobalts are alot lighter too

As said you can really see the torque when he got into his boost. But down low he seemed to be a dog. My buddy with a 350z held him til 100 when they went from a dig. He flew by when he passed him to. So a dig or low roll i think id have him, if anything a good race.

Oh a dig and you'd murk that ***. But not because it doesn't make the power. Its because the car can't hold it till it gets traction at higher speeds. I bet a mildly modded Cobalt SS t/c would be a handful for a even a cammed car with some DRs, suspension, and drivetrain mods.....
