z28 vs Mustang gt
Ok so a couple weeks back we where hanging out at a friends shop, and like always the thrash talking started he wanted to run my 99 z28 with his mustang. The mustang was a v6 shell with everything swapped from a wrecked gt. Our cars are mostly stock except for intakes and exhaust upgrades so we tought it would be fair. We decided to go over to the road were we would race back in highschool. On our way there we came up to a red light, he just looked over at me and started reving his car so i just gave him the nod. The light turned green and we went, and for some reason the mustang dissapeared in the background. I got to the spot and waited so he arrives and tells me his car bogged down the first race, so beign the nice guy i am i just laughed and said yeah right. So we lined up talked a bit more trash and our flagger gave us the go and we hit it. We where neck and neck up until around 60ish after that the mustang just fell further and further back. At the finiah line he said he missed 3rd bit it was time to leave before unwanted attention got there. He was pretty cool about it and told me a wins a win but we will line them up again soon hopefully.

I recently traded my 04 Mustang gt for my current 2000 SS, so I know just a little about the 99-04 stangs If you both had the same mods (intake and exhaust stuff) You are probably pushing 80-90 more hp lol
Now when I traded the stang about 3 months ago it had FULL bolt ons, gears, cams, and custom dyno tune. It would beat my buddy's stock 03 Mach 1 pretty good, and another buddy's stock 98 Z28...although the Z did much better than the Mach. It also had a 100 shot of nitrous, and on the sauce it would be very close to my HCI setup on the SS...with the SS having a slight edge

Yeah, you still have a good 80 hp + on the stang...trust me lol. Even if the stang didn't miss 3rd, you still would have pulled him pretty hard after 60 mph. Also coming from a 98 gt to an LS1 is a HUGE upgrade as you now know lol

Lol well now he knows not to pick on a LS1 anymore. Those 99-04 2 valves need some sort of forced induction (nitrous, blower, etc) to be competitive with motor only LS1...it's just that plain and simple!

Dude are you serious or kidding lol? If you are serious a stock Mach 1 makes around 270-275 rwhp and weighs around 3400 lbs. By contrast my gt made 290 rwhp, weighs about 150 lbs lighter, and had better gearing with the 3.90's...why is that hard believe lol?

dude... mach 1's can run 10's bone stock if you just hold each gear past redline.
