2000 GT vs. 2010+ SS
Hey what's up guys. Here's a copy/paste of a thread I made on my Mustang forum. I was hoping somebody on here could tell me what year the SS is and if it sounded like it had any obvious work done to it.
I got to play with a modded 2010+ Camaro SS on the highway today. That ****** was fast! lol
I was just cruising up the i5 going maybe 75 mph and noticed some headlights coming up behind me pretty quick. I let him get somewhat close then dropped it to 3rd and ran it out hoping he would follow. He did. I thought it was a sixxer at first since those are much more common around here but then I heard that exhaust... Oh man, that car sounded sick. We lined up and ran a few times even though I knew it wasn't going to be close. Especially since I was at a bit of a weight disadvantage with my girlfriend in the car along with spring break luggage and a full tank of gas.
Details are in the video descriptions.
My only performance mods are a CAI and a BAMA 91 "race" tune. I can't wait to get 4.10s and a short throw shifter.

No clue, but you have a basically stock 260 hp Mustang gt, so that kind of explains the difference lol I had a cammed and full bolt on 2004 gt before I got this Camaro...man what a BIG difference lol

Probably. From what I've read over the past few months, an LS1 with H/C/I is a freaking beast. I couldn't imagine how hard a newer SS would pull on me with H/C/I.
Thanks, man.
It's not. Whoever designed the hood for the 99-04s needs to be slapped. When I'm out of college and have some money to play with I'll definitely be tossing a different hood on. I love the Mach 1 shakers but it's just too much money for the intake and new hood.
Tell me about it. lol I just dropped a nice chunk on new tires so I have even less money to play with.
It was in Southern Oregon, headed back up to OSU.
Figured I would come checkout what the dark side of the internet looks like.

Staging Lane
I hear ya Stoppy, it never fails that when I do find them in a spot where it is plausible and safe to race they won't look at me less yet run. But every single stinkin' time I'm in traffic I get these guys trying to race me from 55-65mph or some stupid ****. Or the two times where it could have been a race but instead of lining up next to me they just go for a ricer flyby...

I take that back...there is one close to my house that has a cam that sounds bigger than my sofa. Been avoiding him... But other than him, see above.

I have yet to see a 5th gen SS driven by anyone younger than 50 and I don't think I've ever seen one with the windows down on a nice day.

Ha, I guess. It would have been closer from a 30 or 40 roll so I could have used 2nd gear. Hell, even a dig would have been nice I want a rematch when I get the 4.10s and don't have all the extra weight.

Lots 5th gens in Central TX. Owners range from 20-50 in 5th gen camaro club. Cars range from stock to 750ish whp. Some good looking ones and then some that are ugly modded that are not part of there club. Like the one on 26's that is a V6 with miami heat stickers of LJ and DW on it.

I noticed the Car had the GM "chicklit" badge, so it was probably a 2010-11 car (2012+ don't have them factory). Also, colored ditch moldings and red SS badges indicate it's an RS car (nothing to do with performance, if anything it technically makes the car heavier). Sounded like it *maybe* had an axelback exhaust (not really a performance upgrade, just sounds better), but otherwise appeared to be a really stock performance.

I'd love to run into something crazy fast like that. I've been watching TX2k13 videos and it's amazing how hard some of those "street" cars pull.

Aren't the RS Camaros V6s? I know I had the weight disadvantage but there's no way a low 14 second car would have slaughtered me like that.
