My 3.9 Monte vs stock 96-98 Gt mustang automatic?
So i get off work earlier tonight, im driving down north avenue (its a street not highway), and this sn95 gt come out of no where riding SUPER close to my rear bumper flashing the lights. so i just took off b4 he got next to me and so did he, it look to me like i was pulling away from him pretty good. i got to about 100 mph than i realized thats way to fast to driving on a mainstreet. my monte is tuned and i have a short ram intake. how would i fair against a stock to lightly modded 96-98 sn95 gt stang?

Ran 15.8@86 in a bone stock 96 GT Convertible 5 speed. As stated, they are complete turds. The PI swap was pretty common, so in that case, you would be looking at 220ish RWP and low to mid 14 second 1/4's.

Motorweek 98 claimed to run a 13.7@104, but I've never seen a real life example of that. Machs, sure they run mid 13's, B headed Cobras, no. If I would have had a drag radial and cool temps, I might have been able to get it down to 14 flat, but no way would I see 13's without 4:10's.

You probably would beat an auto and have a good run for a stick....
....stock. (not many stock ones around anymore).....
They're kinda fun cars though.......With the right mods and a "good" tune you can surprise a lot of faster cars............And when you lose, they just beat a turd..............
.......I still need a tune on mine.....

its a good engine and all but there is ZERO aftermarket support, I thought about buying an totaled SS Monte with a good running engine and trans and swapping it over to my Monte, I found a few under 3 thousand dollars.

I saw the times while I was viewing a thread about the 2006 3.9 Monte being compared to an 05 SS with the 3800/sc and they was saying stock stock, the 3.9 is actually quicker even while have considerably less torque, the 3.9 makes over 90% of its torque from 1500 rpm to 6000. It does pulls pretty hard for naturally aspirated 6.
