Cobalt SS vs 2 '17 Camaro SS's
So I've now had the pleasure of getting a run in with both an 8spd auto and manual 2017 SS Camaro. I've got to say, they're damn fast!
The auto car was following me rather closely on the highway and looked to be waiting for the right time to try to get a run in. I drive spiritedly on the highways and I think it got his attention. Sure enough, as traffic cleared, he slid over and I watched his headlights come up. NO FLYBYS PERMITTED IN THIS ZONE, GOOD SIR!
I pulled it down into 3rd and just as I went WOT, his running start put him about half a car ahead of me. I stopped his pull, quickly pulled him back in and by the time I pulled 4th, I started to put distance between us. We only ran up to about 115-120 and I had a solid car on him. I figure on a clean run to 130, it's an easy 2-3 cars.
The second encounter was on the street against a manual car. This one was a bit closer due to lack of traction in 2nd gear (I had WAY too much pressure in the tires and got a little excited on the hits). The first run we went from 40 and stopped around 85ish. Traction was decent and I was able to pull half a car or so but man, he was quick! The 2nd run we went from 40 again and had to stop around 90-95 as we had a car pull out in front of him a ways up. I spun my *** off on this one and he pulled ahead a solid car. Once in 3rd, I pulled him back in and had a nose by the time we let off.
All in all, definitely a huge improvement versus the 5th gen Camaro!
I'm still working on my new setup and fine tuning things, so I only anticipate that the car will get quicker and much more consistent.
For those that may be curious - 21/22lbs of boost and 17* of timing on the new 6758. Pretty mild all things considered.
