Default STi:1/C6:0

Ahhhh finally a vette kill. It wasn't by much, but it was enough to make me happy.

First of all, just remeber I DO respect the V8, and did own a f-body. Now to the story....

Well I was on my way home yesterday and saw a set of round tail lights in the slow lane. I decided to check it out, so I pulled up along the side of him and scoped this thing out. It ended up being a nice black C6 containing a male driver of about later 20s and I assume his gf same age. Well I let him pass me to see the car completly (you know to see if it was legit amd wasn't a cop or anything). Well after that I passed him again to give him a thumbs up. He returns it with a friendly wave. I go on about my commute leaving him behind doing the speed limit.
Later down the road I see his lights FLYING up on me. So I down shift and gass it as he comes along the side of me. After this he realizes I'm game for a quick run. He then points ahead and wants me to run him. I down shift and give him a tap of the gas noting I was ready. We both gun it together and I jump about half a car. I was REALLY nervous since I knew I had to shift from 4th to 5th (a tough shift in the past). Well I stuffed the clutch to see him regain composure and break even. At this point I was amazed, I started to pull SLIGHTLY while in 5th. We didn't get to run more since traffic was approaching.
We then both pulled in to a gas station, but he didn't even want to talk to me. He did at least sy good run, but then walked off. I at least wanted to chat it up, but I guess he didn't.

I haven't gone to the track or dyno it yet. My stock times for the 1/4 were 13.7(only went 3 times). As far as guessing dyno numbers, after looking at similar set ups, I'm guess in around 310-320whp. I also am figuring with these mods about 12.6 +/- .2. I will more than likely go up to the track this month to see. DannoWS6 and I are trying to set up a track day.

I don't thik he has me beat Metallic. I have the STi all weather beast as well as a fiance.

good kill, IMO he must have been a crappy driver, but a kill is a kill.

Nice kill, but a top end 4th and 5th gear kill doesn't mean much to me. Turbo cars have a big advantage on highway runs.

Yeah. The drivetrain loss at highway speeds are like night and day. If it were a race from a dig it would be a different story. I more than likely could have run away and neer look back. A run from a roll is always much closer.

Have you ran anyone on the street that was running ET street radials from a dig? If so how close was it? Just curious if I need to bolt on my ET's if someone with AWD wants to race.

MaSTi just pulling your chain. I also have an all wheel drive car the new GS300, daily driver. I love STI's. I am not bias when it comes down to an awesome performing car. Just thought I would have some fun with ya.

I haven't run anyone with DR froma dig yet, but DannoWS6 has Nittos and we went from a roll. Next time we get a chance, I'm sure we can match up pretty well. He does have a good list of mods. Dan should be even with me out of the whole, after that he shuold walk all over me. LOL.

I have run some people at the track with street tires. This was last year of course, also with my stock crap tires. It still wasn't pretty for most of them. On my stock rubber I was cutting 1.9-2.1 in the 60'. With better tires, I can now cut off 1.7-1.8 consistantly. The launch is VERY hard with this car. Most people think you just drop it from like 6k. That will get you out of the whole, but makes you come out sideways not a strait shot! I almost shat myself when I launched and saw nothing but barrier in front of me. After that, I learned to slip it......MUCH better.

Good run! I love both cars, and it looks like this was a pretty good match. I suspect that if both of you could have wound it out, the C6 might eventually turned it into its favor (less drivetrain loss), but still a good run.

These cars (STIs) change completely when you go to big turbos, etc., which you should probably do. They stop being hole-shot vehicles and instead become from-a-roll vehicles. I can only get about 15 lbs boost in first (which given how short first gear is might not be a bad thing), but can get 26 lbs in third. From a roll, this car pulls harder than my 422-powered Camaro did - if you do the power to weight, 3200 lbs with 445 to wheels versus 3700 lbs with 495 to the wheels, the math does favor the STI (7.19 lbs/HP versys 7.47 lbs/HP). I don't know that a 500 RWHP Camaro would quite expect this if running across me.

All the same, if I had hit the spray button on the old Camaro, the results would be very, very different.

I'll more than likely go the bigger turbo route later on. All the mods in my sig were just added this past winter, so I'm happy for now. I guess it will all depend on the house payments and how long the stock turbo will last me. My ultimate goal would be to run somewhere around 24-26lbs. Not sure what turbo yet, but I want it to hauls some serious ***!

Nice Kill man.
For those with any doubt, I can vouch for him. He's got a fast car. The 1st couple of gears in his car are pretty sick.

Really nice run and impressive kill against a car meant for high-speed, aero-dynamic runs
