Just like the title says. Reason I'm asking is because I was at Jiffy Lube gettin an oil change a few weeks back when one fo the guys who works there asked me if I race my TA at all. Which I told him I don't race. Well he started telling my a story how a friend of his who has a newer Civic hatch back(not the SI maybe late 90s model) with a late model Prelude engine and carbon fiber body panels. According to him his friend destroyed a WS6 TA on the street. Now I know anything can happen on the street but I just don't see this happenning.

if it has the h22 engine it could may be beat a lt1. there rated at 222 at the crank if i remember. but beating a ls1 with that engine only i don't think so, even if it is a light car. i have a friend with a 01 prelude with all the bolt-ons, a 75 shot and a jackson supercharger we havn't raced yet but i have riden in his car and by no means does it feel fast., if his car was totaly gutted he could get the weight down to 1900-2200 and if that motor is moded it could be posible. like you said anything can happen on the streets.

Yeah thats what I thought. The guy made it sound like the WS6 was no challenge. I told him that I know there are fast Civics out there but it will take a lot more than "Prelude" engine and "carbon fiber body panels" to destroy a LS1. Have to see it to believe it.

Its possible if the guy can drive well. A civic hatch gutted out is extremely light.

And i wouldnt say destroy. It would be a lower 14 sec car.

a 2000 lb hatch with a prelude engine is plenty 12 sec capable. who's to say he doesn't have more work done.

the h22 in a hatch or light coupe will run low 12's if he can drive and if he has a little hidden spray the ls1 is in a whole olt of trouble.

Get out of here with that LT1 "might" lose rubish.

If it were a h22 and he raced a 3600 series V6 he might have beat him... If he raced any one with a 350 and knew how to drive he's full of it.


With the h22 he may be lucky to be in the 13's... were do these 12 second combo's come from... I used to be on the other side of the fence, and even then with all the swaps our cars ran 13's and 14's.

My buddy's B16(156whp) 1985 hatch back civic weights 1634lbs w/driver and runs 12.8@104. That's very respectable.

with 156hp I doubt it... that trap speed is too low.

He should be running high 13's with that.

is it a american h22 or a jdm h22 because a jdm one in a hatchback can hit low 12's or high elevens.

It really depends on the mods.If it beat a ws6 it probally had more than just a motor swap.

THere is a local guy that has a civic that looks basicly stock with a built turbo setup.
With nothing more than a tire change at the track he has run a 9.9@149 .

I guess I shouldn't ... I only started off racing hondas... what do I know.

What I can tell you is that Boosted and Gutted Hatches wit hthe Prelude swap have a hard time pulling those numbers.

it depends what is doen to it. sport compact car did a article on budget go fast cars...one of them being a h22 crx. it had 180 whp and ran 14.1 in cali heat at 100mph...i think it was around 2300lbs...they also had a real small shot of n20 and it ran 13.7 at 104 and the they put on slicks and ran 13.5 at 107. with the n20 it made 209 at the wheels. so if they gut the car and upped the shot(i'm not sur what size it originally was) it would probably be in the 12s

alright, so I may have been cruel about hte guy making his 12.8 at 104mph.


but it would take allot more than just an engine swap to get those times alone.

but the times BrandonDrecksage are what the performance of these cars do on average.

There ARE fast imports, and there are even fast hondas.

That being said, normally most hondas that belong to "the friend of this dude I know" are anywhere from 2 to 5 seconds slower than advertised.
