Me and the guys from work went to lunch at BBW and on the way back I was joking about racing just about every car we came up to, we were laughing it up havin a good time etc...So we merge onto the highway and there is a green riced out civic, Z3 fenders, altezza lights, fart can, spoiler, the full deal. So I jokingly pull up next to it get even and keep pulling and letting off etc...Finally he takes off and I nail it whoosh he's gone I got him by at least 4 cars. We started at around 65mph and I carried it up to 95 and was ahead of him again so I let up. I see him coming up to do a ricer fly-by so I nail it again, and by the time he's up to me I'm pulling on him. So I let off because I really don't need a ticket and who knows if a cops waiting for me, so once again he does the ricer fly-by and I just let him go. We laughed all the way back, I thought maybe since he tried me he might have had a few mods besides all the exterior work, but I guess not.

So here are the stats-

Camaro SS with 3 passengers = 2-0
Riced civic = 0-2

Why try, I have no clue why they try, so far I've had a lincoln town car, a beat to hell primered late 80's impala 4 door, several ricers, a rusty 72 chevy pickup, a ford tempo, and a tahoe with a bunch of teenagers all want to race me.
I think they just want to see it go

im pretty sure thats whats goin on in those cases, they just want to see it go. i personally can never get enough of seeing those people stare in disbelief as i shrink from view

thats why i do it. just encourage others to have fun in their own cars. i can floor my car all day and never break the speed limit(note the avatar). you guys(fast car owners) have to be egged on to open her up.

Where do you guys find these people??? Noone ever picks a fight where I am (SPort, LA) ONly thing ever ran me was a S2000 and a guy who refused to line up properly and did a fly-by type deal in a 02 Z28 (chase you race though ) No civics or anything ever bug me lol

My area is Rice central. I can't even drive 9 miles to work without seeing at least 4-5 examples EVERY DAY. I havn't gotten a race from a single one of em. Not one. Dunno if they know what's going on under my hood and don't want any of it... or if they figure that i must be slow because i'm american and only imports are worth their time. Either way I really havn't gotten a chance to put the car to the test since I got it back from the shop a few weeks ago. The only race I've had was an S2000 with paper plates still on it. Short 30mph to 60mph run, put like 2 cars on him even that quick. Poor guy probably thought he was gonna smoke me after trashing all the rice around the area. bah.

S2K's are not that mean from a roll like I thought, i ran one 55-95 and held even/pulled a car (I jumped him, but when he chased he was losing ground as far as i could tell, we ran side by side for about a quarter mile and then i nailed it before he did, so i claim = or only 1 car pull) but I nailed it in 4th gear at 55 when i could have been in 3rd until 80 or so. Point being, they arent that grand as you have discovered.

I never get anyone fun to race with... Plenty of trucks (dodge especially), but I don't even get ricers... Scared, perhaps?
The other day I had a c5 behind me and I revved and he revved and pulled up beside me and waved and I smiled and revved and he slowed down. I was like wtf? I downshifted and everything for nothing!

I sure don't go looking for races, but I hardly ever turn one down, there are 6 other LS1 Fbodies around here, so the ricers ( and there are a ton of them, it's a college town) must've been schooled by one of us, and know now not to mess with a 98+ F body, so they leave us alone (for the most part)
I think alot of it is just wanting to see how good they run, and they know they aren't going to beat an LS1, but they just want to see it go

something tells me that ricers who won't race feel far too confident about their cars. They think they have nothing to prove. Total Napolean Dynamite syndrome.

i saw a turbo CRX stripped down to 1765 lbs sat night run on the highway up to 115 against a cam z06 that puts down 405. the crx claimed 220fwhp on a 1.5 single over head cam vtec motor.... he was going to race me but opted for the slower of 3 z06's in our group... and got beat at 120mph. you may want to change your outlook on some turbo cars.

i had a vortech sc S2000 that put down 297whp, official SCCA weigh in was 2715 in street trim... i never lost a race to a LS1 on the highway, sorry guys just didnt happen. unkowningly to most, i was the 4th Vortech SC S2k in texas at the time.
