How quick is an M3?
I was at my g/f's house tonight for halloween (scary house type of deal), and her neighbor is there commenting on how the whole theme looked. So anyways, he recognizes me once I take my mask off and asks if I'm the guy with the black SS so I tell him I am. He then goes on about how he eats camaros, vettes and T/A's for lunch in his M3. He keeps going on to say that he's left a few Z06's in the dust, a few porches and he was wondering how he'd fair against a '06 Z06. I didn't argue with him talking all this crap because he was a little drunk. All the time though I'm thinking, this guy is sounding like a real tool in front of all these people. Then he basically asks me to race, so I concede and tell him whenever he's game, I'm ready. So, onto my question, how quick are these M3's? I don't know much about them and I figured some of you guys have to know specs on them. There's no date set, but I'm going to ask him to race once he's sober, win or lose.

If he is stock than according to your mods you will eat him alive. My mods are in my sig, I still have not put in the good old cam and heads. I raced an 04 M3 before I got tuned and it was not pretty for him. Now I am an A4 so I raced the guy from a Dig and Roll a couple of times and just murdered him. From a Dig I but a buslength and from a roll about 5 cars by the time I reached 110. Dont sweat it.

firstly what M3 are you talking about?? Is it fairly new?
If so, don't beleive people who say you'll walk them easy. If they have, then it's been the driver they have beaten.
On paper a STOCK M3 produces almost identical performance stats of that of the new 05 Mustang GT.
An equally well driven STOCK Fbody (98-02) should be faster, but maybe not by quite so much as people believe.
If you have a few mods, and they are more of an average driver, it should be a win for you. A comfortable win, but not a total walking. However if they can drive it might be closer than you would like.

What year is the M3. It if was the older body style they have some serious mods for that car..some really nice turbo kits out there that put down some well good numbers.
If its the new body M3 he better be supercharged or have some serious mods to be talking like that. by no means is the car slow but beating some of the cars you mentioned he better be heavily moded.
I have raced several different cars in my m3. I raced a c5 vette from a dig...got him by a carlenght and he finaly started pulling on me once we started passing 110MPH. I raced a ss camaro on the highway...all I was able to tell was he had a exaust, the ******* thing was loud as ****....we went at it 3 times. 1st time we were dead even nobody was pulling...2nd run i didnt downshift all the way and he pulled a car lenghts on me but it stayed that way until we shut it down again. 3rd run I had him by half a car and is stayed that way again until we shut it down.
Hope this helps at all.

Closer then you think.
I was at the strip beginning of summer and got the line with a M3. I have no idea what year or if he had any mods but if I remember correctly he ran a 13.4. Not bad for a stocker if it was. I think he had a set of DRs. With your mods it shouldn't be a problem. They are quick cars, but you should be okay.

Awesome, thanks for the insight guys. This guy was just really making himself look bad talking all that smack. Like I said, I'll be racing him win or lose, I just wanted to be sure that it was the alcohol talking. I believe he's stock, so I'll have quite an advantage on him. Maybe I'll race for a full tank of gas...
About the year of the car, I'm not sure as I haven't seen it personally. I'm assuming it's a newer model.

Ask what kind of transmission he has. M3's with the SMG option run real fast because that damn technology launches the car for them perfectly. If it's just a normal stick odds are it won't be quick at all, I mean 263 tq i think. Only a very well driven stick will keep up with the SMG and if it's stock and your modded you should still be able to pull even on that.

The 330 hp M3's are mid to low 13 sec cars stock with a 103-105 trap speed. They handle so damn well I wouldn't even thinking about messing with them with my muscle car through some twisties.
