Default Upcoming race over thx-giving.

My friend is getting a 1982 Camaro Indy Pace car. Mods are unknown in exact detail BUT:

327 (not original motor)with "300hp" (not sure if its fly or rwhp) (built by mechanic in shop class, mechanic is good/reputable, around 2500 invested in motor)
Edelbrock 650 4bl
unknown cam
built 700R4 with unknown stall (probably not that high).
3.73 gears and built rear end
about 1K in suspension parts of unknown type.
car weighs around 3200#

My mods are in sig. This race is not guaranteed as he is still trying to get a loan for the car, but it is probably (Just wanted to state that so if it doesnt go through noone is pissed). yes yes, its not a kill/death yet...i know i know....

You should beat him easily. You are in Shreveport arent you? Where are you going to be racing? Maybe I can line up with the two of you after that. I wont mind getting beat lol.

Not to highjack the thread but the Cummins has to stay somewhat untouched until the warranty runs out or until I get rid of it. Gotta keep it running good to tow my other truck home when it breaks down. My cummins beats stock hemi quad cabs and z71s as it sits.

Honestly I have no idea. But I'll put my money on you as I know the 05's can be pretty quick with the right mods and I also know that the 3rd gens can be difficult to make fast.

Wow, i was kinda thinking we would be more =, I dunno, This is going to happen in Mountain view AK. And yes, I live in Shreveport, LA. LSUS student. FOr the record I claim 280 rwhp and that should be fairly accurate.

That Camaro should be pretty quick if it is as described. A 327 will really rev, but if the guy is just getting the car he probably won't be that great at driving it yet.

And it is not difficult to make a 3rd gen quick, especially when you are talking about one with a motor swap, that changes everything.

Depending on how well the 327 is built, it might be a close race.
Given the info on the 3rd gen, and reading your sig, I'd give you the win, but not by alot
You'll likely get him because you know your car better than he knows his

He has auto and im not the best in the world at a stick yet (been driving one for 3 months now) so i think he may have a slight driver edge. I dunno, im thinking it wil lbe close, if he gets it and it goes down ill definitely let everyone know.

You should have no problem in a 1/4, but the original 82 V8 auto trans came with either a 2.93 or a 3.23 rear end, so with the nice revving 327 and his gearing (IF original), he may do pretty well at higher speeds. Good luck, let us know the outcome!

My friend does not get his loan to buy the car for another week. I will still get to see it but b/c its not technically his yet, a race seems rather doubtful (I did state this in the beginning that it may not go through...) Anyways, I am hoping for christmas. At any rate, I'm going ot go and check the car for blow-by and do a compression check on a few cylinders to make sure he is getting what he thinks he is. By the way, the heads he says the guy said they are "Camal hump/Camal Back or something like that...anyone know what he means good/bad??

Good heads, old technology. Vortecs are much better untouched than ported double humps. But they are better than your run of the mill 882 casting 350 heads.

What kind of hp gain over stock 327 heads are we talking? Kinda like GT40P's vs. E7's or not that much?
