Default Charger R/T?

So I ran into a charger r/t yesterday on the highway. He clearly was checking my car out. I didn't really notice him since he was just merging into my lane. Well, he never got into my lane since traffic was all jammed up, so I hopped in behind him. We both messed around a little, but nothing close to the speed limit. It was just a few tags of the gas and NO room to run eachother. How do these things stack up? I really wanted to see how my STi would compare since there's a mix of people who do and don't like them. To me, it seems like they aren't fast at all, but I have no clue.

from what i heard they run a 13.9 stock, your sti runs a 13.2-13.4 stock depending on driver so you can do the math

I'd love to run into a SRT model then. Is there a specific way to identify these? I assume they have the normal SRT badge, but if they are debadged what do I look for?

yea they have the srt-8 badges, and I knwo the 300c's have something rediculous like 20 inch chrome wheels, so thats another way to identify one. Not sure if the charger srt-8 has them but the 300c def does. The srt-8's would give you a good run but I dont think youd have a problem with an r/t regular hemi.

The Charger SRT8 has a hood scoop and bigger (20inchers i think) wheels like that dude above me said, but the hood scoop's the main way i can tell. Haven't seen too many driving around though.

Yeah, same here. I commute quite a distance, but never see awesome cars. I think it because my commute is early in comparison to "commuter" traffic. I also don't go out looking for races, so I never run into much.

Glad to hear that people are willing to get out and run there RT's....I have seen several in the last couple of weeks, but to my dismay they are always going in the opposite direction!

The R/T is not much of anything. It is a very heavy car with, at best, low 300's to the wheels. The SRT/8 should be an entirely different story. They will probably be making high 300s to the wheels. I am not concerned about either until the blower kits become prevalent, then they are going to be killers!

New road and track compared it to the 05 goat. it nudges the goat by a few tenths in the 1/4.

You must be referring to the SRT variety. The R/T model would get eaten up by either the '04 or '05 GTO.

I was reading the January's issue of Road and Track which has a road test of the new Charger R/T. The car's numbers weren't impressive in the least:

0 - 60mph: 5.9 sec
1/4 mile: 14.3 sec
Top Speed: 126mph (electronically limited)
Skidpad: 0.77g (sucks)
Slalom: 61.4mph
Brake testing: from 60mph - 132ft / from 80mph - 240ft

In the same issue, they road tested an '06 Range Rover Sport S/C. Some of it's numbers where better than the Charger R/T... and we're talking about an SUV! Here are the Rover's numbers:

0 - 60mph: 7.2 sec
1/4 mile: 15.5 sec
Top Speed: 140mph (electronically limited)
Skidpad: 0.77g (Same as the Charger R/T)
Slalom: 58.4mph
Brake testing: from 60mph - 118ft / from 80mph - 210ft (Better than the Charger R/T)

Obviously, the two aren't in the same class, but I found some of the comparisons funny. The Charger is a boat with a curb weight of 4,150 lbs.

I wouldn't give these cars a second glance unless it's the SRT version. But, if mildly modified, you shouldn't have a problem with one of them either.

I saw a new double black Charger SRT-8 on the street. Nice GTO-like seats. Very aggressive yet integrated look. Polished 20" wheels standout. Nose looks like a shark looking for food.

Now if it was 700# lighter...

My bad, it was either RT or C&D? They had the rivalry issue with a c6 and srt10 on the cover, but yeah it was a SRT8 they used in the test.

my friend had an encounter with a SRT-8! dont underestimate them. He has a 1985 300zx and has run a best of 12.2@124 with a 90shot. off the spray he traps 114-115 he walks my trans am pretty good off spray and he was tooling along at 70 on the highway. came up behind a 300c srt-8 pulled over to pass him and the 300c punched it. granted he had a small head start on my friend, jason was never able to pass him. they let off at 150mph. he said he pulled up to his rear fender then he just held even. Jason's car put 383 to the wheels without spray. He thinks they are underrated from the factory. just heads up.
