I drive a '98 Formula with most bolt-ons
it was a stock v6 stang, I know because it's a guy's I work with
I think maybe it's just because I sat at the line and spun for a second or two, then never went all the way to WOT because the car was still cold
still I thought I could even let him have a lead and still kill him

Theres no way.... I used to beat V6 stangs in my 1990 240SX which was a stock I4 w/ a shift kit. Hmmm, you never said if you had a manual or not, but maybe you shifted wrong or something?? Or maybe your car has a major problem that you are unaware of? If its none of these things, the only other thing I can think of is what octane gas are you using? Because I put 89 octane in mine once and it was slower than a bicycle . If you used at least 93 octane, you shifted fine, and your car is in perfect running condition, than your buddy is lying to you about it being stock. Because Ive driven a few V6 stangs before and they are about as quick at WOT as my 99 Formula A4 at 60% throttle, and me and you have the same car basically. Even if you lost traction at the dig, you would have pulled him hard and eventually passed him. I dont know man, I think you should get your car checked out.

Last time I "raced" a v-6 mustang I didn't even need to past 2500 rpm and I wasn't racing...
I have to call B/S on your death. Its just like wayyyy too far mismatch that even most dead ppl could have one.
Did a buddy sneak on your account maybe?

I just went out for a drive to prove to myself that my car isn't a dub
Stopped and started out a little slower then went WOT and was at 80mph before I even knew it, even chirped the tires going into 2nd
maybe I just get too nervous when trying to race lol

What happened?
Uh, you told us..... You spun badly, and didn't floor it.
Next time, push the pedal all the way down. And practice launching.
Luckily, you're a formula, so maybe the other guy will think you're a v6 and NOT spread it all over some Ford forum that he beat you.
Also, why wouldn't you floor it if the car's cold. Unless you have aftermarket springs, you're fine to get on it.

BTW, if a v6 stang beat you then you've got problems or you need to drive like you stole it.
