Default Got beat on by a SRT-4

Well my buddys got a Srt-4 and this thing is a lil animal.

He asked if i want to run it, so we went to the local little race spot. I didn't ask him if anyhting was done to the car, but I could hear the boost. It was sick sounding (they sound like that stock!!??!!). Well we line up.. and im jsut a lil stock LT1 (not spraying or anyhitng here)... the SRT is LOADED with people (so i look like more of a retard). When the pass closes his door we go.

He got a huge jump and i got lead foot and spun the **** out of my car. I didn't get traction untill after the car shifted into second. He had a car and a half by then and through most of the quarter it was that way. I was almost to his rear bumper at the end of the quarter.

Does this sound right for a stock srt-4??? I mean 3 people plus the driver and i was alone. How are these things uspposed to sound stock... it felt like i could hear the exhaust just being slammed out of the exhaust... sounded liek a jet engine. But im still going to assume it was stock (though they were pretty confident in it and they said they would beat the other srt in town.. which i know the other one is modded).

Well... let the discussion begin...

They are quick little cars...and with some mods, they can be downright wicked. He should have had a few mods to be able to pull you that hard with a car full of people. But then again, you spun pretty good and that's a bad way to start. Playing catch-up doesn't really tell you how you would do if you had hooked. Try again and keep those tires planted. You would proly take him then.

The only fairly stock one that I've seen came in at 210 fwhp all the others were around 260-270 with quite a few mods.

Not familar with LT1's but ive pulled stage 3s (what ever that means) with my SS and it has a lid and CME, I'd assume that he had a few mods.

Stock for stock should have been a good race, sounds like his was lightly moded, or he just out launched you.

sounds about right for stock/slightly modded. They're very close to stock LT1's.

off the lin you should kill the srt4 for a bit but mid range and up top he will pull you pretty good. srt4 are high 13's to mid 14 sec cars stock.

SRT4's are pretty nice cars. this is a video i made of my brother and his 2005 SRT4 on the dyno.

http://www.rastarajah.com/videos/srt4dyno.wmv

for all those with slow connections or just too lazy hehe
he made 240whp and 255trq with ONLY Borla Exhaust (no downpipe) and AEM short ram intake.

Are you positive it was a S3? Those trap 114-119 depending on other minor bolt-ons.......

im not sure... if I had slicks and could smoosh the pedal to the floor, i would have taken him. Damn FWD gets out of the hole a lil better than my RWD... but those cars(all the skittles... even my buddys Cobalt SS/SC) spin like nuts too...

If you spun like that with an LT1, you just ran a 15 secondish 1/4 mile. Even a neon with 4 people can run better than that. Id say he was stock or very lightly modded.

well when summer gets here... that road gets prepped with VHT and im going to rock slicks. The plan was to add a stall also, but I don't thinking hooking up would happen with a stall.

Copy..... that is weird, because when I had a SRT, I had Stage 2, intake, 2.5" dp/exhaust, and slicks... I was consistently running 12.8-12.9 @ 107-108. My good buddy has an SRT with Stage 3, cat-back, and slicks.... he runs consistent 12.2s @ 114-115. No other mods...he still has the stock airbox and 2.25" downpipe. I ran him once (S2 vs S3), and it was nasty......

Anyways, you can only go by what they are saying..... personally, from my personal experience owning the car and from what I have seen, a Stage 3 SRT should handily beat a minor bolt on LS1.

Take care....
