99 Camaro SS vs. 2004 Ferrari 360
I was out for a drive last night and I come across a guy that I know that has a Ferrari 360 (with paddle shifters). We pull into a parking lot and shoot the **** for a few minutes. After that, he decides we should go out on the freeway and run the cars. Obviously I'm up for that so we head out.
We end up going from around a 40mph roll and race till about 140mph. I was shocked by the outcome as I pulled him by about 1/2 - 1 car. I basically took this lead when we originally hit hit (thanks 4.10s!) and that was it. I couldn't pull him and he couldn't catch me. We get off the freeway, and I ask him if he was 100% on the throttle. He was and he was also shocked by the outcome. He thought he was going to pull me by an easy 4-5 cars.
Anyways, my bolt-on SS runs strong but I thought that the 360 trapped around 115-116 in the 1/4, so I am still surprised that I beat him, especially at that speed.

360 Modenas trap about the same stock, you just got the jump, which is usually a deciding factor in evenly matched cars. You also have the 6-speed to maintain that jump, if it were an auto, 2nd into 3rd you would've fallen out of the powerband and he would've caught back up, unless you had a 4400 stall with those 4.10s. Good kill, again not as surprising considering your car, but I'm guessing he was taken down quite a few notches

Awesome kill.
And the thing is, traps will vary a lot due to about a million things-fuel quality-air density-temperture-how much gunk is on the plugs-etc. Out in the real world having a less high strung lower reving engine can be an advantage as those factors might not affect you as much.
Guy I work with has an LS6 SS and he pulled a 360. All he has on top of the LS6 is Cat-back and lid. He is an M6. I've been ragging on him for months to get nitrous and or a Cam. He refuses. I guess I can see his point. He has not lost yet AFAIK, so why get more LOL. I dont think he even has a tune.
Now go get some juice and find a F430. Now theres a race!

Good results! Considering what you spent on your car and what the 360 costs, you are leagues ahead! Bet that guy feels a little foolish after spending so much on a fancy car to be beaten by a Camaro!
