I will personally tell you with the SLP Bilstein shocks and BMR new designed springs the ride is not harsh at all. I think the ride quality is pretty good to me but to each his own.

They go hand in hand many ways. A car that rides badly, sucks over bumps and I know of very few roads that are 100% smooth as a baby's ***.

BMW's don't ride like crap, Porsche's don't. Some Corvettes do, and those are the ones that are much more edgy to drive fast (and magazines often point that out). The fact is firm and harsh are different things, and a car that is harsh or overly firm can actually handle worse, not better.

Are you asking what shock has better handling? Are you lowering or no?

They're very similar shocks, the SLP's are for lowered cars (technically the SLP springs) and the HD's are for stock height.

Ride quality and sometimes handling can be subjective toward ones own opinion. Only you'll know what's better. Depending on what shock you already have, you'll probably like both.

Saying that one is for lowering springs is debatable. I probably would only get Bilstiens if sticking with stock springs personally

Well, ok, maybe not for lowering springs in general, but they're tuned for the SLP springs, which do provide a slight drop with slightly higher rates. If I was running lowering springs, I'd definitely go SLP's over the HD's.

I have to stop you right now... The valving is so similar at this point that's it's largely moot. One isn't really "better" than the other, except on value. I sell both SLP's and HD's, but they way the pricing is, the SLP's are $409.99 shipped (currently) and HD's are $419.99 plus shipping. So you end up paying about $30-40 more to your door for HD's as of now. That makes me recommend the SLP's first, because the value is better.

If/when HD's become more cost effective, then I'd tell you that instead.

I can't tell you why someone else tells you anything. The fronts are the same, the rears have a different valving code, but the same base part number. Again, they are very, very similar but not the same.

Why are you calling SLP anyway? They aren't selling 'em for any less than I am all told. Even with the sale they have on, when you add back their shipping---which is never cheap, you aren't looking at saving anything and possibly costing more. And they don't sell the HD version, I do. I have no reason to tell you something slanted because I can sell you either....

And here's the next one. Bilstein is changing the HD valving in the rears, again. I have on idea how until I can drive on some... but they just keep pissing around.

Sam, do you still sell a bilstein package that has a different generation front/rear?

Got my HD's with stock springs. Been on for less than a month and I love it.
Get the SLP's though because you are going to lower yours.

No, just became a nightmare to deal with.... And half the time Bilstein never had both shocks I needed at the same time.
