are you wanting to replace the fronts, rears or both? If just fronts I would suggest some Hawk pads and some non drilled and slotted rotors.

Depends on what your application is really -- what type(s) of driving?

In the past I have bought some pads & rotors at Murrays which is now called O'Reillys Auto Parts, and they have limited lifetime warranties on some rotors (Wagner $62.99 front/ea.; $50.99 rear/ea.) and ceramic pads (Brake Best, their house brand which is actually made by Bosch $51.99 front/set; $40.99 rear/set)...

That's $320.94 Total front/back rotors & pads...

For pads, AFAIK, ceramics will give the least brake dust, if that matters to you.

$200 for front and rear pads and rotors is going to be pretty tough...you might be able to get the cheapest set of pads and rotors from Advance Auto (looks like Wagner rotors at $40/per for the rears and $34 per for the fronts, and Wearever Silver pads at $28 for the rear and $22 for the front) for around $200, but I'd only use those as a stop-gap until you can afford at least decent front rotors and pads.

But are they ceramic pads? What are the warranties on both?

Don't base it on price, but bang for the buck -- I would consider ceramic and best warranty, then price... I have had rotors replaced for free which warped...

Ceramic pads are junk for a performance car - the only benefit they have is that they're quieter and dust less. They have a lot less stopping ability than regular brake pads because of their frictional coefficient. Cheap rotors are going to warp, and keep on warping no matter how many times you replace them, if you use your brakes hard (hell, the cheap rotors on my daily beater are warping, and it only sees highway miles).

I don't think warranty is really an issue at $200 for front and rear....at that price, we're not talking "bang for the buck," we're talking whatever works until better parts can be afforded. $200 for the front alone puts you in a much better position - ATE or Brembo blanks, and Hawk or EBC pads, then $80 for regular rear rotors and non-ceramic rear pads from the parts store, unless you want to toss extra money out there and run nice rear rotors and pads.

Except that warping can also be related to the calipers -- on my old single caliper 3.4L Camaro, front rotor warping was a common occurrence...

I also asked the OP the application, as who knows how he drives it... Ceramic is just fine for general street-use.

Not everyone really needs expensive pads/rotors...

Of course warranty is an issue, if you consider your overall costs to maintain a car over the life of the rotors/pads!

I have a good line of economy rotors..... They are $202 for the set. I've used them myself, and they aren't they typical parts store junk. No coating, not as beefy as ATE or Racing Brakes, but good, durable, true replacements.

http://www.stranoparts.com/searchbym...=191&ModelID=7

See lines 7 and 8 from the top. Rotors are priced individually. Shipping is additional, and depends on location. Getting good rotors and good pads for $200, just ain't gonna happen.

Maybe you need to replace only front rotors? Or no rotors (I can't see the car, obviously).

To ship a set of 4 rotors to CA will be a good $40-45 for the set.

I put the Rotoworks drilled rotors on from WS6store, and I am impressed with their quality. I've used several Autozone rotors in the past with warping problems.

I also put on Hawk HPS pads, and have been through some hard braking and am very pleased with the results!

This is a set of inexpensive (i.e. cheap) slotted rotors mentioned in this thread. Take a good look and understand that's why I don't sell cheap slotted or drilled rotors.

I highly recommend the ATE rotors and Hawk pads that Sam sells. I have them on my car, and they work very nicely. I swear they grip better in the rain than they do on dry days!

EDIT - Just read the $200 part. You're probably stuck browsing AutoZone, or possibly the classifieds here if that is your budget. Brakes are one part I wouldn't cheap out on though.

Best bang for the buck is going to be subjective to anyone's opinion and driving application. What kind of driving do you do?

Default rotors

the lifetime rotors from oriely's are wagner brand which run 62 each. the autozone rotors are crap always warp. i'm gonna try the wagner just for the fact i can do a FREE exchange no questions asked if they ever warp. i will say my car is a daily driver.

Does anyone have info on the f&r rotor and pad combo on eBay for like 200$ shipped. I'm not tryin to be cheap, but I've heard these aren't bad. And the company has thousands of feedback, all positive.... Thanks

well i put my wagner rotors on and man it feels good to stop again. i would be scared of ebay rotors just for the fact when they ship them to you and they look good you leave positive feedback, then about 6 months later if they warp you have no recoarse but if you wanna have it riding smooth to sell that would be the way to go.
